I'm really curious about why the limit for keeping breast milk in the freezer is 6 months. Does it actually spoil, or just lose nutritional value? Or something else?
Wondering as I am about to do a freezer clean-out and I'm sure there's probably some old milk hiding in there...

We considered the temp of our freezer and decided 6-12 months was fine for frozen BM. My children didn't like stop growing or anything 
So I'm not sure what's supposed to happen....

@Baby Boy Mom: i thought it spoiled at that point. i had some that went bad prior, so i always smelled it first!

@mamimami: Hmmm...ok. I was hoping someone would say that. 
At this point, anything still in there is really just in case of emergency but you know I don't want to toss it unless I absolutely have to.
@birdofafeather: On the rare occasion I use it I always smell before but it never seems to be bad right out of the freezer? hence my question...

@Baby Boy Mom: yeah, i think it has to do with freezer temp and storage. i have a couple bags left from november that i'm going to use up this week.
