I like to dress up as things that are kind of obscure or that only local residents would get because then when people do get it, they love it!
But some of the things I've been include a gold digger (dressed all in gold, had a pickaxe, and a sack full of gold) and a bee + beekeeper with Mr. Bee.

A few years back I found my old Brownie sash and was a Brownie. Another recent one was Tinkerbell - I even wore my old toe shoes.

My husband and I have done couple costumes for the past several years:
Mary Poppins and Bert
Waldorf and Statler (The Hecklers from the Muppets)
Frankenstein Monster and his Bride
Carmen San Diego and Where's Waldo
I'm pretty sure I have dressed up for Halloween every year since I was a baby, so the complete list would be very long!

I've gone as a dead prom queen, Princess Leia, a Cat, a Clown, and this year I'll be going as a Viking.
DH has gone as... wolverine, wolverine, wolverine, Han Solo, and wolverine. JK, this year he'll be a Viking as well, but he's really got Wolverine down pat.
Oh oh! And I almost forgot, one year we all went as characters from Clash of Clans. That was super fun.

We were the characters from Wizard of Oz the first year DS was born (he was the lion, I was Dorothy, and DH was the scare crow).
Last year, we were the Rubbles from Flinstone.
This year, DH wants us to be characters from Super Mario (DS - yoshi (trying to figure out how to make the face on this one!, DH - Mario, and I'm still a bit undecided since I'm pregnant and don't really feel like wearing a pink dress).

I don't dress up much (the last time was before I got pregnant with Evan), but in the past we've been Cleopatra and Mark Antony, a devil and a priest, Fry and Leela, and The Dude and Maude Lebowski (the latter as the Viking from the dream sequence)

I'm not super creative generally, but one of my favorites was when I dressed up as Hit Girl from the movie Kickass. That was fun

My most memorable was a sexy baby...sounds so weird now...a few of my friends were barely in our 20s wearing bibs with cutesy names, middriff tanktops and short shortie 'diapers' with lots of makeup and a stuffed animal/pacifiers. I did not decide on that costume. I was told to show up and a costume would be provided. Horrible social statement but fun in my youthful ignorance!
A Hawaiian statue of liberty. Flag sarong and poky Tahitian ti leaf crown. a Hawaiian book in my hand. I liked that one the best because it was completely original based on what I had.
At work, I dressed like a cafeteria monitor, tourist, captain america, pink lady and other things I care to forget...

My most creative was Queen of Hearts playing card. I meticulously painted two poster boards like playin card. The rest of the costume was easy- dark pants, top. I don't remember if I wore a crown.
My sexiest costume was a French maid. I wore it to our local Moon Fest event. I tried to be a little classy and donned full fishnets and take a less is more approach with showing skin.

I think my weirdest one was sexy Abraham Lincoln in college. It was kind of a joke but we really did wear a short skirt and heels. Then a button up white shirt and a homemade tall hat!
