What personally helped you during (hospital) labor, besides an epidural? I had a pretty bad experience the first time around and I hope I can have an epidural this time, but there's a chance I might not get one..... so what helped you manage the pain and stay *calm*?
For me: DH & Mom rubbing my lower back and applying counter pressure, the hot shower, hot compresses, kind of the birth ball but ehhh; during pushing I envisioned him coming out and it was motivational

). I found watching the monitors so I could see when a contraction had crested helped me to endure them. I made DH narrate it to me when I had to roll over with my back to the monitor.
I mentally was preparing myself to only be at a 4 or something haha! I found it super helpful to suddenly be further along than I thought. Baby came an hour after that!
I plan to take a bath at home in early labor as long as my water hasn't broken. The hospital has peanut balls but I think I'm going to bring my own birth ball too, if not for me, for my husband ( so he can apply counter pressure while I am on the birth ball.
