I really want to buy a bunch, particularly air purifying ones. I don't have a green thumb though!
What plants do you have at home? Are they easy to care for?

I used to have bamboo b/c they are easy to care for...until I had kids. And then one-by-one they slowly died. But I had it for over 10 years so I didn't feel too bad b/c it took me that long to kill it. Then when we moved here my friend gave us an orchid plant. It's dead now too. I totally have a black thumb! Air purifying plants sounds so nice though. And so good to look at to rest your eyes. I'd be curious what you end up getting.

Buy a Sansevieria (Mother-in-law's tongue). Impossible to kill. I've had mine since I was 15 (my grandmother gave it to me). I kept it in my room (north facing) and kept forgetting about it. Didn't die. I also have an African Violet, a lipstick plant, geraniums and a cyclamens but those are all killable.

I don't even know what it's called, but I've got an indoor plant that I bought from ikea a year ago. It's still alive and I usually kill all plants.
It needs to be watered once a month LOL

Ones that are non-toxic to cats. Spider plants, air plants, and some succulents. My cats nibble on a lot of them, so I can't have anything nice.
For anyone who wants a great resource on pet toxicity, aspca has a great one: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants

Orchids! I did manage to kill a few that were thriving by drastically changing the light and temperature in a room, but otherwise they're pretty maintenance-free. I just take them to the sink and water them once a month.
I keep a few of the basic orchids in a good spot in the bathroom (gets light, humidity, air flow) and when each one blooms I take it downstairs to put on display.

I have cactus that have colorful "flowers" on top so they're not too plain, and tons of succulents! They are all beautiful but super easy to maintain. My mom gifted us some African Violets though; I leave those to DH lol

A large yucca plant that is basically maintenance free and an orchid(though some of the leaves are browning so not sure how long that is going to last(.

I've had great luck with heart-leaf philodendron, snake plant/MIL's tongue, and the zz plant, which seems nearly impossible to kill. I also keep a lot of succulents, but they are in the kitchen window, since that's the only place that gets enough sun. We don't have a lot of natural light in our house, so we're limited to what we can keep alive.
