Well, a week from tomorrow we have our final Preconception counseling meeting with our OB/GYN. And then it's time to make a baby!!
Since I've had the Mirena IUD for a year and a half I haven't had a period and have no idea when I'd be ovulating.
So, I want to get the tests to help me determine our best days.
I just have NO CLUE what to buy!
Can anyone help me? And tips for this part of the process? It's exciting and nerve wracking at the same time lol

Congrats! I bought the Wondfo kind, just because they're super cheap (about $10 for 50) http://www.amazon.com/Ovulation-Prediction-Strips-Pregnancy-Test/dp/B0026995KO/
And I also bought the Clearblue Easy Digital Ovulation Test, which is more black and white (Smiley/No Smiley) to confirm when I think I have a positive on the Wondfo http://www.amazon.com/Clearblue-Digital-Ovulation-20-Packaging/dp/B002VLYAOI/
ETA: as for tips, I think you're supposed to test after you haven't urinated for about 3 hours, and in the afternoon/evening, for best results.

I used the Target brand. I wouldn't recommend them because you don't get that many in a box.

@Crisark: I'd start around day 8-10, and keep going til you get a positive. Might be expensive for the first month or two, but once you get a handle on your cycle, you really only need to test for maybe 5 days a month

The OB said I'd be fertile immediately following my Mirena being removed..of course if I'm ovulating.
I honestly want to leave the appt, go home and test and start to figure it out.
My periods use to be around the 12th every month give or take a day or two. And I still get period symptoms even though I don't bleed (sorry tmi) so I've tried to time the Mirena removal to the time of the month I think we may have a chance but I don't know. -
If you can't tell we aren't planning on wasting any time lol
The OB said she's had women have their Mirena removed and get pregnant all within the same month and never have a period after removal.
I'm hoping for that lol But, wouldn't we all! -
I used the cheapos from Amazon the last couple of months. I don't temp/chart well so I bought a Clearblue Easy Digital Fertility Monitor and tests this month... (just came in yesterday, $115 used)... and we'll see how it goes this month!

I went ahead and ordered from Amazon clear blue ovulation tests and clear blue digital pregnancy tests.
It's really surreal that it's all starting to happen. We are so excited! -
i used the clearblue easy digital with the smiley face/blank circle. i hate the ones with the lines - no, i can't tell if one line is darker than the other! i wanted something to tell me, yes or no.

I used the CBE digi with the smiley face, TTC for 2 months without, first month we used it we got our BFP! I still have enough left in the pack that I can use it again with we're ready for #2.

Have you considered charting? That's really the only way to know whether you ovulated or not...OPKs can tell you when you're gearing up to o, but not whether it actually happened.

I told my mom last night that I had bought the strips and we were going to try and track it and she wasn't receptive to that at all.
Said that no one does anything the "natural" way anymore. Saying we should just enjoy trying and not have to "know" when everything is going to happen.
Idk, I've thought a lot about what she said. She said why doesn't she buy everyone's christimas presents in July, let us look at them but not give them to us til christmas.
Idk, DH said whatever I want to do is fine, he just wants to BD all the time lol
I'm a bit torn, I'm wondering if I'm trying to take too much control and if my mom is right and we should just let nature take it's course and if for some reason in 6months we still aren't pregnant then look into doing the strips.

@Crisark: I say if you're not in a huge rush, go ahead and try it the "old-fashioned" way, but from your earlier posts it seemed like you don't want to waste any time! I know a lot of people say when you're ready to have a baby, 9 months is a long enough time to wait
Personally I feel like I want to have all the information available to me (not just in TTC, but in other areas of my life as well). Within reason, of course, but if I can non-invasively help with the timing, I want to be able to do that.

I used First Response. I bought them at a Harmon's attached to Bed Bath and Beyond...you can use either the $5 or 20% off coupons there to save some money.

@Rachel: Thanks! That's how I looked at it too. She pretty much said it was stupid. Now mind you she's very blunt and means well but she wasn't on board with needing to "know" when I'd ovulate.
I think I will wait and see how I feel next Wed when my Mirena is removed and go from there. Worst case scenario I'll return the strips unopened to Amazon.
