I thought about taking her when she was an infant. They make ear protection for babies! My dad is a musician and I was at concerts at weeks old. P will be almost 2 at her first.

5+ No way she would sit still at this age and I don't see her having the attention span for years to sit for a couple hours.

We took DD to an outdoor concert + fireworks on the 4th of July last year (she was about 5 months old). She *hated* it.

We went to Austin city limits when T was 17 months! He liked it!

I think it would depend, a day concert we would probably take her now at 18 months old, but an evening concert not until she's older.

@Smurfette: Lawn "seats" is just a blanket on the grass so she wouldn't have to sit still

@rahlyrah: Yes but we would be chasing after her the whole time. Lawn seats are always so crowded. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with it.
Plus it sounds more fun as a date night so I can drink instead of chasing after R!

I watched a documentary this week about a boy with progeria and his dad took him to DMB concerts (among others) every year as their "thing." I thought it was such a cool tradition. B and I listen to a lot of Jack Johnson and I think he would have a fairly kid-friendly concert. I'd like to start a similar tradition with B

I would at any age as long as the weather was nice! We have free outdoor concerts here every week and it is ALL filled with babies and kids! We actually left because kids were throwing sand on us and we felt super awkward without kids... this was years ago.

LO is going to a blues concert with us in a few weeks! It is not a kid band but part of a kid series of concerts free at our art center downtown so I am excited! I am a musician and both of my parents are as well so we love music!

@rahlyrah: We took L to the Firefly Festival (one day only though) when he was 5 months old. He loved it. Ear protection is key!
I thought it was so easy. He'll be 17 m this year and I think it will be a lot more difficult.

When he was one we took him to an outdoor concert for the Fourth of July but we walked around and listened.
By the time he was two, he went to another and loved it! He danced the whole time.

@meganmp: @dagret: Did your LOs try to pull off the ear protection? I feel like B would be pissed if I put those on his head!

I've seen infants at outdoor Dave Matthews concerts ALL the time! They all wear little headphones. I can't wait to bring my future LO to see Dave

We took DD to two last summer when she was 6 months and 8 months. We all had a great time!

@meganmp: coolest mom ever! walling you
J has gone to a million shows, DH works in the industry, so he's met a lot of our musical friends. He went to a hockey game at 4 months and an outdoor concert shortly after that.

We almost took S to a concert when she was 10 weeks old! It wasn't a big arena style concert and would have been lawn seats. I think it depends on the venue, and what I anticipated the audience would be like, but I think I would take S this year for sure if the opportunity arose.
