Ugh. LO is suddenly becoming a little terror. Throwing tantrums when she can't have something, screaming to sleep before her nap, not eating very well. I am starting to see a little attitude already. LO is 13 months, what could she be going through? Is this welcome to parenthood 101?

We're dealing with this right now, too!! I think it's just them learning. My daughter turns 13 months in a couple days. She screams/cries when I take something from her or don't let her go somewhere. She always wants to be held. She eats...sometimes...when she wants to. I don't know what phase it is but it is a phase and I know they will get through it!!

Us too! J just broke his top molars so I'm hoping he settles down a bit now *praying*

our 14 month old is also going through weird whinny phases... Hopefully it passes soon

That's when DD started - it's crazy! It's like a switch flipped and she just decided she wants to be boss.

Yep. I think it par for the course with a young toddler. They have a very hard time coordinating their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities/desires at this age.

I posted this same thing at 12m. She really seemed to have trouble controlling her emotions. This phase honestly lasted about 3 weeks, then she was back to being her normal self.
We did take her to her room for some quiet time so she knew it was unacceptable

LO is almost 15 months and she has been throwing tantrums and whining when she can't get her way. She started around 13 months. Maybe it's preparation for the terrible twos?

DD just turned 18 months and we've been going through this for the past month or so. It's been hard taking her out because she whines and wants to touch everything. I'm also hoping it passes soon!

I just finished telling a coworker that it was like someone flipped a switch at 12m. He suddenly started throwing tantrums whenever something didn't go his way. I think @Weagle has it right. They have trouble processing and communicating at this age.

@kiddosc: I agree, its got to be the communication thing. Its very hard not to get frustrated and impatient though! As I am sure they feel the same way!

Ever since DD turned 12 months, she's been a whine machine! She cries when she doesn't get her way and has been openly defiant! She's been pinching too! I really, really hope it's a phase she'll outgrow soon!

LO is 13 months and sooooooooooooooo darn whiney!
Our "oh shit, what do we do now?!" phase/issue that begun recently is that whenever we say NO she LAUGHS. Like, straight up belly laughs right at us!!! No matter how stern I say it, and I don't smile or anything (and I'm being serious!), she just laughs and laughs. At daycare they said she responds to them saying "uh oh Eleanor" when she is getting into mischief so I try that too - same response: LAUGHTER.
I am so in trouble! She's already beating me, at only 13 months!!

@yoursilverlining: hahaha I hate to laugh but LO does this too! She throws food on the floor while looking at us and when we say no she laughs and does it again. Arghhh!

I'm right there with all of you...LO is 12 months and clings to my legs, shouts "up" all the time, and will smirk and say "ha ha" when told no. We were trying not to use the word very often in hopes of avoiding her learning it, but shehas just started saying "no" herself, shaking her head, and waving her hand at me. She's choosy about what she eats, and will pull food out of her mouth if she doesn't like it...or throw it to the floor and say "uh-oh". She just cut her first molar - I hope the others come quick!
