After my HSG today I was warned by both the RE and nurse not to "have relations" for 24 hours. It was so hard not to start giggling in front of them. Relations?! Was there not a more clinical term they could use? What did your doctor call it?

In our fertility specialist paperwork it was referred to as sexual intercourse.

The last time I went to the ob, I was spotting.. And she whispered....."any rigorous sexual intercourse?". I thought, what the hell other kind of intercourse would be rigorous? dh thought it was funny that she whispered it... As if he wouldn't have been involved in said activity.

I always laugh at my doula friends who talk about "yoni's" and "vajayjay's" and "lady bits" and reference "getting it on", "doing it" or "having relations".
Maybe I'm not the typical hippie doula, but... people. It's called a vagina. And it's called sex.

Sex. (And no whispering!)
My pediatrician did go out of his way to not say "vaginal" when asking me about DD's birth, which was hilarious.

intercourse.
Oh, god..."relations". My mom once used that term with me..."are you having relations?" Gah!

I roll my eyes any time my doctor says "tummy".
I feel like part of the exam for OBGYNs should be willingness to say "sex" and "vagina". Maybe even throw in "penis" for good measure. Anyone who can't say it comfortably fails!
Bumping uglies totally gets extra credit points though!

My husband's doctor doesn't talk about sex... just ejaculations.

Mine says intercourse.
Also he says "pee" instead of urinate, which I think is funny. (he's young though, probably early 30s)

Hehe... "have relations" reminds me of the biblical way... "lay with" or "know". Haha!
My OB always just says intercourse.

Intercourse. When I went in for my annual when were were planning to start TTC my doctor said 'do it' which I thought was kinda funny.

When I told my OB we were TTC, she asked if I was charting or anything. I said no and she said, "So...you're just having lots of sex!" And I was like, "Um, yup." And we both laughed.

At my follow up appt after my m/c, my midwife told me and DH it wasn't caused by that wild night of sex... Wild night of relations would've been hilarious tho!
