I'm in need of new foundation, something that covers well and lasts! What's your favorite? I've heard good things about bare minerals but I've never tried!

I never use it anymore because I'm lazy, but the last one I bought and liked was by Origins.
These days if I use anything it's a tinted primer from Philosophy...I can't think of the name though.

@tororojo: yes! i have their tinted moisturizer, i think its "miracle in a tinted moisturizer"? something like that?
for more coverage foundation, i really like revlon's photo-ready

@PastaAndPotato: I'm looking at their web site and can't figure out which one I have...it's got a little spf and is tinted- that's all I know!

I used bare minerals for a while, but I don't anymore. I don't think it evens out skin tone very well, and it looked gone after like an hour (tho I have pretty oily skin)
I use Revlon's photo ready pressed powder now and I like that. I think they stay better than loose powders. It's fairly similar to makeup forever 's pressed powder, which is a little better, but twice the price, so I have gone back to drugstore.

Here's what I've been using:
Smashbox Camera Ready BB cream applied with my fingers
Smashbox Halo powder applied with The Tarte airbrush finish brush. Then I touch up any spots with the halo powder using a bare minerals concelor brush. Finally I go over the whole thing with Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Talc-free mineral face powder in translucent.
I'm really acne prone but my skin has done well with this combination. Even my husband has noticed that my skin looks clearer and my makeup more natural. It also lasts all day without getting oily and sliding off my face.

revlon colorstay for me! I've tried soo many over the years - from high end to drugstore - and this has provided me with the best colour match and coverage without breaking me out!

@Mrs. Lantern: me too! Like you, I've tried so many different (and expensive!) kinds and every time I do I end up thinking I should just stay with Revlon.
If you want decent coverage, I don't think powders alone like Bare Minerals will cut it; at least they don't for me.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer! I also have a Laura Mercier foundation on days I want more coverage!

I used to use bare minerals but have recently switched to Giorgio Armani's Maestro foundation. It's hella expensive, but I really like it. It's liquid and a couple drops goes a long way.

@Mrs. Lantern: @yoursilverlining: Ditto! I have had such a problem finding something to match my skin, not lead to breakouts, and be inexpensive--Revlon Colorstay does the trick for me. And I can get it almost anywhere!

Ditto the Laura mercier tinted foundation! I like the illuminating kind! Sephora HD makes a good higher coverage foundation too

@tororojo: LOVE Origins!!! The white tea moisturized with the pressed powder and finished with the bronzer is PERFECT. seriously my skin looked amazing.
I use smashbox hydrating powder and I LIKE it but not love it.
I used Bare Minerals and hated it. It's a love or hate thing... It left my dry skin shiny

@mrsjazz: me too! I'm another revlon color stay user! I used to use Estee Lauder and Clinique but thought I could find something cheaper so I did! I work 12 hour shifts and I hated my makeup sliding off. This stuff stays and covers well.
I HATE bare minerals. Like, @EBSC, it didn't cover well and had zero staying power.

I use BB cream and I like it okay... doesn't really give enough coverage. I've liked Smashbox when I used it before.

I love Clinique Superbalanced Foundation...it provides good coverage for me without feeling like it's caked on!

I also use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, and I find that it is light (not heavy feeling), but still provides adequate coverage. I tried BB cream (Dr. Jarts) but it kind of made my skin break out which never happens to me.

@mrsjazz: Have you gone into a make up counter to have them match your skin to a shade? thats what helped me
coconut / 8234 posts
@Mrsbells: I've only done it with MAC. Found a great shade in two different formulas--both made me break out like crazy.

I use Benefit's Some Kinda Gorgeous. It's a "foundation faker." I love the fact that there are only 3 colors to choose from (I go for medium) and that it evens out my redness.
squash / 13199 posts
@mrsjazz: yeah I have heard that, I also heard that MAc makeup oxidizes so it changes color after some time? Dont know how true thought. You should try out sephora sometime their counters are great

Estee Lauder Double wear is awesome! Great coverage, lasts forever, and it feels lightweight.

I used Revlon ColorStay for a while, when I wanted medium/heavy coverage. It worked really well! I switched to Bare Minerals and used it for at least a couple years, convinced that it had to be the best thing for my skin. I kept having breakouts, though. Stopped using it and my skin cleared up! I had just heard such great things about BM and how you can wear it to sleep because it's good for your skin, etc. Definitely not the case for me. If you want to try it out, get a little sample or something, first.
Now I use Almay Smart Shade foundation. It's pretty light coverage, but I LOVE it. Never seems to break my skin out and the shade matching thing really works!

I use Bare Minerals and like it. I think they've changed their formula over the last year or so. I have oily skin and it doesn't stay on all day like it used to. It's still the best option for me. It works and it's affordable.
@mrsaudi: I would head to Sephora or Ulta and test it out before purchasing! It'll give you an idea of coverage and you can find out what shade works best for you.

@Sweet T: good idea! I will definitely do that with all these suggestions!

@Alivoo01: is this GA's newest foundation? I think I got an email about it recently. I love all their makeup!
I use Giorgio Armani lasting silk foundation for special occasions and Clinique mineral powder for every day. The trick for me is concealer. A lot of foundations work for me as long as I use concealer first.

I've used MAC and Lancome, and I preferred Lancome. I'm going to try Clinique next, I found that PP my skin is way more sensitive than it ever was before so I've been switching things up.

I used Bare Minerals for a few years off and on. At first I LOVED it, but it quickly started to not work as well and gave a weird ghostly/powdery look, even after switching colors (especially in pictures). I've heard good things about Revlon and this thread has me even more intrigued!

@Mrs. Pen: I hate bare minerals too! I never understood why so many people like it?!
I try so many but always go back to Mac studio fix fluid. I love Dior airbrush but it's too expensive.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I like Smashbox for higher coverage or Almay Perfect shade when I'm feeilng cheap. For daily coverage I use Mary Kay loose powder foundation, feels nice and light!

I used Bare minerals several years ago and liked it, but I switched to Smashbox Halo bc it's only one step instead of 2 steps w/Bare Minerals.
I got an awesome brush to apply the Halo, I don't use the flimsy buki brush it comes with and that made a HUGE difference....

I could've sworn I wrote a response here....
Bare Minerals has SPF in it. SPF reflects light, and that's why any makeup with SPF in it looks crappy/ghostly in photos. So avoid SPF if you're going to be in photos! The Makeup Forever HD that @mrsbells suggested works great. I've had the same bottle for almost 4 years (i know, gross) but I don't use it all the time.
If you want your foundation to last all day, use a primer and use a brush or sponge to apply it. Otherwise you just add extra oils to the makeup and it won't last as long.
Urban Decay sells a setting spray that is GREAT during the summer, too, btw!

I use LancĂ´me for heavier coverage. I was able to use bare minerals when my skin was clear but not anymore.
