For me, it would have to be stuffing. Never been a fan.

@bluestriped bee: same. But I have never had stuffing made from scratch.

@bluestriped bee: I don't like any kind of chilled/frozen fruit salad. Or super cream cheesy veggie casserole. Gross.
Fun fact: In the South, we serve stuffing outside the bird and we call it "dressing." It is my absolute favorite dish at Thanksgiving and possibly ever.

@bluestriped bee: I agree! Stuffing! I always feel like I need to eat some and am always disappointed in wasting the calories on it

@mrsjd: ditto. Creamy vegetable casserole. I want fresh veggies!

At my extended family dinner: Green bean casserole
At DH's: "French stuffing" (which is just a bunch of ground meat?)

Cranberry.... I totally don't understand it, why is the canned stuff so glorified? Stuffing is awesome, so is mashed potatoes and gravy. Mmmmmmm......

I hate turkey! I usually go for the ham. And I don't like the sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on top.

@regberadaisy: My mom and I both make sausage stuffing from scratch - so good! I can eat it as my meal

I'm not a big fan of turkey. I like it in sabdwiches the next day though.

The ILs always have deviled eggs and pasta salad. I don't mind pasta salad, but I just don't care for it with Thanksgiving foods! I never eat deviled eggs.

Cranberry sauce from a can. I make my own cranberry sauce, but I don't particularly think it goes with Thanksgiving dinner.

Turkey.
Canned cranberry - it's so easy to make cranberry sauce with real cranberries and tastes a million times better.
Sweet potatoes/yams done with tons of marshmallows. Too sweet, you lose all flavor except "sugar".

Totally yams! And honestly stuffing is my favorite part of thanksgiving! For me I could have thanksgiving with just stuffing, gravy, and apple pie.
Although i do have to say that at my ILs, everything is instant instead of made from scratch (except the turkey), and so I could pretty much do without all the food at their house. DH and I love love love cooking and food so we specifically eat at my family's because the food is way better!

stuffing is my fave! my grandma makes it homemade though annnnd it's so. good.
least fave: cranberry sauce. yuck!

Turkey, cranberry, yams with marshmallows (way too sweet...my MIL makes a yam puree with an orange sauce that's divine, though). D's aunt makes an oyster dressing that grosses me out (just the smell)...but I can't stand seafood. Everyone else raves about it, lol.

Homemade cranberry sauce (I only like the stuff that comes from a can!), and yams. I'm so hungry now!

I pretty much only eat the turkey at Thanksgiving b/c my family makes weird foods to go with it. I have to bring the mashed potatoes and I"m the only one who eats them.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@LuLu Mom: blasphemy!! Haha. My favorite food!
I pretty much love all thanksgiving food. Haha. I like the sides better than the turkey.
kiwi / 641 posts
Stuffing/dressing. It's never been my favorite. I don't like turkey if it's dry either- all the gravy in the world can't fix it
pear / 1510 posts
@kiddosc: Yes! When the entire dish comes from various cans, I'm out.
pomegranate / 3658 posts
Stuffing/dressing, cranberry goop, steamed/soggy/creamy vegetable dishes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, sweet potatoes with brown sugar & pecans (better than marshmallows but still waaaay too sweet), turkey, anything that would be vegetarian except somebody slathered bacon or animal fat all over it...
Hmmm maybe it's starting to make sense that I feel the need to cook so many dishes on Thanksgiving - to make sure there's enough food I actually like.

Turkey. I like it for leftovers sandwiches, but don't see much point in saving room for it on the big day.

@mrsjd: We don't stuff the bird in our family, but call it stuffing. My in-laws do stuff the bird, but call it dressing. So weird!
coconut / 8279 posts
sweet potatoes, I can't eat marshmallows at dinner (or ever, haha)
I LOVE green bean casserole though! My grandmother used to make it and when she passed away we had many years without it. I started making it again

@mediagirl: That's too funny!
I forgot that I also loathe the sweet potato casserole with marshmallows, but I love it with brown sugar and pecans on top.
clementine / 777 posts
Oh I also forgot to specify that only cornbread dressing, no white bread in our households. Literally never realized some people made it with non-cornbread until I was in my 20s.
pomelo / 5678 posts
I love it all but loathe pork sausage (some people put it in stuffing- yikes!)
pomelo / 5129 posts
least favorite, turkey
one reason DH and I are doing our own thing this year is that my brother's family (where we usually go) is now gluten free and I can't not have stuffing. That's what makes it thanksgiving to me.
