Very tall (92nd percentile) but medium weight (50th percentile). Her humongous head (98th percentile) forces me to go up a size in tops early. Her length is making 12 month shorts look inappropriately short so I'm moving her to 18 month clothes. She's always been tall but she's evened out in weight.

Banana. Long and lean. I don't notice looking at her, but it became apparent when she outgrew her onesies superfast but could wear pants forever.
grapefruit / 4120 posts
Squishy. Haha my son seems pretty average and my daughter is a string bean. But I don't think you can really tell these things until older.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
She's tall and lean based on percentiles, but her ped said she was "athletic with narrow shoulders". It's not obvious to me, but I don't see kids all day every day, either

DS is a rugby player, it has been apparent since he was about 6 months old.
DD is perfectly average with nice squishy thighs. No idea for her yet. She is 1 kilo less than DS at the same age.

She's petite, but has long legs. All of her pants are capris if I expect them to fit around the waist.
pineapple / 12526 posts
Tall, but athletic. I think she's going to end up built a lot like me (before I got chubby). Girl has some crazy abs.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Tall and skinny. Fairly obvious really early on, maybe the second month? Lucky girl!
honeydew / 7667 posts
Gigantic? Is that an option? She just met her cousin who is 5 months older and she dwarfs her.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Very proportionate. Not tall, not chubby, but is actually muscular. Built like his dad who is broad and short but you don't notice the shortness because he's not small.
honeydew / 7916 posts
It's still early but I'm wondering if LO is going to be generally skinny with a long torso.
coconut / 8079 posts
So far our LO is long (99th percentile!!) & lean. He has long legs & arms too.
squash / 13764 posts
Tall and skinny, with a long torso. Became obvious around 6/7 months when his height percentile way overtook his weight percentile, and the instructor of his swim class commented that he had a perfect swimmer's body (long torso, broad shoulders)--then he started outgrowing shirts by length really quickly.

Hard to tell - I feel he's very average (up to about 30th percentiles consistently now), but with how active he is I wonder if he'll be more athletic. DH is very sturdy and muscular, broad and tall. But I am not sure yet if J will be.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
Very sturdy - not petite like my side of the family. She has long legs like DH and a wide rib cage (I say his side of the family are built like Labradors). She looks tall and strong...nothing dainty about her at all
papaya / 10570 posts
She's currently petite and slim..... which is strange because DH 6'2" and we're both overweight!!

He seems to be turning into a string bean. He's tallish (85th%) but skinny-ish (47th%), with long legs and arms. He outgrows sleep and plays first because his legs and arms won't fit. But shorts and short sleeves stuff he's getting a ton of mileage out of. At almost 8 months he can still wear all his 3-6m rompers.

Tall, long waisted... Not sure what else yet but I'd assume skinny since his dad and I were string bean kids.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
She's a string bean. Long, skinny legs, tiny waist, and petite features. My husband's got a thin build, but neither of us are tall at all, so I'm not sure where she got her height from!
pineapple / 12793 posts
Tall and sturdy. A bit taller than she is heavy, muscular. She is shockingly strong. Similar to her mom, according to dh I'm secretly mighty.

Honestly, I don't mean this in a snarky way at all, but I'm extremely sensitive to body talk after classically dancing for 20 years of my life and dealing with the body issues that come with that, and I think it's too soon for anyone to start classifying my daughters' bodies as any "type" other than "healthy little kids."
pomelo / 5469 posts
Petite, but not skinny, if that makes sense? Same as me. It was picked up in her anatomy scan at 20wks that although her head and torso were average size, her legs were short.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@erinpye: Totally understandable. I was thinking more along the lines of buying clothes but I get what you're saying!
eggplant / 11716 posts
I think it's probably too soon to see a type for my LO since she's just 1. Percentiles, she's 88 for height and 26 for weight but I doubt that has any bearing on her adult figure.
I'm always 10 lbs overweight (well, over my happy weight) and DH was/is naturally thin, so I guess anything could happen!

So far he's tall and muscular...mid-upper 90 percentiles since he was born. Never had any baby rolls or anything, just very dense and muscular. He wore newborn clothes for like a week, and we've had to size up every since (he's 23 months now, and 2T/24 months is barely fitting (3T is still a little big, but not outrageously so). He definitely takes after his dad.
Speaking of, funny side story. We were at the pedi a few weeks ago (not our normal one, but her alternate). It was the first time I'd met her, and E was standing on the floor in front of me. He's more than half my height already, and the pedi sort of laughed and said "I'm guessing he doesn't get his height from you...?"

Built like a linebacker. Unbelievable how solid he is at 22 months. I have never had arm muscles like I do now!
papaya / 10343 posts
So far she is exactly proportional it seems (head/height/weight are all the exact same percentile).. but is 75% so she's a little ahead in clothes I think (she's 2 mo and fits most 3 mo clothes right now).
pomegranate / 3580 posts
DD is LONG and lean but has some nice chubby thighs! She's in the 80th percentile for weight and 95th for height. I'm tall and DH has a long torso so I assume she'll be pretty long.

Olive is slim and tall. No belly, has abs, and you can see her ribs.
Charlie is on the slimmer side and short. I think Olive might pass him in height next year!
pomelo / 5791 posts
So far, he's tall and solid, but lean. He's in the 98% for height (just shy of 3 feet tall) and 89% for weight. He's 17m
pomegranate / 3393 posts
Tall, thin, freakishly muscular (I always think of Monica Geller and how she's ”freakishly strong”, haha)
