Wish we wouldn't have gotten: Graco Contempo high chair, Carter's and Circo receiving blankets, too many bottles, crib mobile, too many clothes!

our twin must haves?
-a double snap n go
-2 bouncers in different styles - we have a snugabunny and another narrower graco 2in1 swing/bouncer
-2/3 carriers - 2 ergos w/inserts for out and a k-tan for home
-2 graco cribs - ours only shared a crib for a month
-2 storkcraft gliders - one for nursery and one for family room
-2 basic packnplays
-activity gym(s) - we like the fisher price piano one and have another from a garage sale
-2 packs A&A swaddle blankets
-camera that takes good photos in natural light/no flash indoors
-an extra changing pad and set of diaper supplies for the family room
non-essential for us?
-brica travel bassinets for the babes to sleep in our room - they outgrew really fast
-lots of brand new clothes - we preferred good quality stuff from goodwill (cheap and preshrunk)
- MBF twin nursing pillow - tandem feeding just didn't work for us
-changing pad covers - we use blankets for quicker changes instead
-changing table - we use the pad on the floor to save space

For us it's the rock n play as #1 essential and least useful are too many pacis...we have like 8. It's pointless. You need like 3 invade one gets lost. Then as your LO establishes his fav...buy multiples of it in the diff sizes

Must Haves:
Lamb Swing
A&A swaddle blankets & burp cloths
Swaddle Me velcro swaddle blankets
Nose Frida
Dr. Brown's bottles
Ergo Carrier/K'Tan
Chicco KeyFit 30 carseat
UppaBaby Vista stroller w/ carseat adapter
Could do without:
The millions of hooded towels and "other" burp cloths (they were cheapies and not as absorbent)
Millions of baby washcloths
ALL THE BABY SWEATSUITS- why does everyone think little boys should be dressed like Palm Springs retirees????

I don't have twins, so I can't speak to that however this bottle sling was a life saver:
http://www.amazon.com/Bebe-Bottle-Sling-Brown-Monkey/dp/B003Z6AO7U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351624985&sr=8-1&keywords=bottle+sling
With twins I can see this being so helpful when you have to feed both babies at the same time, put them in the car seats and then feed one while you have the other in the car seat. You can't use it in the car, but if you are walking around in the stroller it is awesome.

Must haves:
- Electric sterilizer. I sterilized everything!!
- Carter's super soft changing table cover. We have two that we rotated. I swear it gets softer with each wash.
- Nail scissors
- Halo sleepsacks
- Swing
- Bouncer
Could've skipped:
- Bumbo. She hated it.
- Pack & Play. We used the bassinet feature, but that's it.
- Baby bath robe. That's just silly.
- Baby mittens. They never stayed on.
- Nail clippers
- Any other receiving blankets other than A&A ones
- Newborn shoes. Rec'd a few as gifts and she never, ever wore them.

Thanks for those who confirmed there is no need for the pack and play!

@shopaholic: Loved our PnP! We used it every night for 4.5 months until she moved into her own room. We received a fancy one with lots of extras...the most basic one would have been just fine.

Must haves:
Nosefrida!
Aiden blankets
Wipes warmer (we love using ours!)
Diaper genie
Thick bibs (I like using bibs rather than using burp cloths)
Swing/bouncer
Playmat with hanging toys
Sterilizer (I love sterilizing stuff)
Cradle cap brush (Didn't have one for my son but now I wish I did!)
Snap n go (AWESOME)
Not needed:
Pack n play (son hated it, daughter doesn't love it either)
Hooded towels/baby bath robes (you only really need like 1 or 2 hooded towels and you're set)
Newborn shoes (so unnecessary)
Tons of newborn hats (we only used 2 in rotation)

It's so Interesting to see what everyone says!
For me, this is what I would get together for the baby #2 (hopefully good news soon!)
Cloth diapers, wipes and wet bag
Gripe water
Thermometer
Nail clippers
6-10 onesies or sleepers depending on the season
4-6 Aden and Anais blankets to be used as swaddles or otherwise
Caps
Ergo with infant insert
Peg perego Si stroller for later use (we didn't buy it until 3 mos and he could hold his head straight)
Convertible carseat
Rocking chair/glider/yoga ball
One random thing I put on my registry that I got and DS has loved is the Twilight Turtle.
Depending on where you live and how you go out, you may skip the infant carseat. DS hated it and I never kept him in it outside the car. I got rid of it already and wouldn't get another one.
To add to the Pack and Play debate. We have a two-story townhouse and a friend let us borrow her PnP so we kept it downstairs. It was convenient for a changing table and he maybe slept it the bassinet part a few times. We also used it to block him from crawling to the front door and for piling things on... So that's a potential use lol

Must haves:
-A Moby and a woven wrap for when baby gets bigger/ it gets hot out
-A baby Bjorn for when baby is over 3 months old (Even though they make infant inserts, wraps are preferred for babywearing until 3 months because Ergo and Bjorn carriers put too much pressure on baby's developing pelvis)
-A&A swaddling blankets
-lots of burp rags, or just use cloth diapers as burp rags--they work great
-Pack n' Play, just a basic one for travel sleeping
-A good pump if you BF
-A mobile (LO LOVED hers for months and it was great entertainment)
-A hammock (worked great for colic and strangely she didn't like her swing)
-Halo sleepsacks
-Weleda Calendula baby wash and lotion
-Soft baby hairbrush
-Soothie pacifier with a little beanie baby attached (for older babies to be able to find in the crib at night)
-Room darkening shades
-Dr. Brown's bottles
-iBaby video monitor (you can access it on an iPhone and iPad, even if you're not home, and move the camera with a swipe of your finger)
-2 changing pad covers
Didn't need:
-Boppy
-nursing pillow
-Bumbo
-stroller (LO is 7 months and we've used it twice--we much prefer babywearing for the mobility and she loves it, too)
-wipe warmer
-bottle warmer
-swing
-white noise machine (we just got an app on an old iPhone and play it in her room at night. A fan works, too)
-baby mittens
-sterilizer
-nightlight

Must haves for me:
Video monitor
White noise machine
Velcro swaddles
Brest friend (for early months)
Boppy (for when baby is older)
Baby tub with sling
Old fashioned cloth diapers to use as burp cloths
Changing pad (we have the cooshee and use it all the time and she so well behaved when we change her diaper...I think bc she is used to it)
Lots of footed sleepers (for early months)
Regarding the pack and play - I never really used ours at all and felt it was such a waste...we set it up on our lower floor and we did a few diaper changes in it in the first month or so and sometimes I set her in it but after a few months we just put it away and I regretted putting it on my registry. BUT now that she's older (almost a year) I'm glad we have it even if we use it very rarely...we take it with us when we go visit friends...she naps in it while we are at our friends house and we don't have to stress too much about her naps. I think if I did it over I would just get a cheap pack and play (no infant or changing station)

must have:
- pack and play (we live in hurricane central and this was DD's crib when we had to evacuate for IKE!!)
- swing
- boppy
- A+A swaddles
- Swaddle me's (mutliples, the velcro goes out quick)
- snap and go for Graco carseat (this has lasted me 2 kids)
- glider
- MAM pacifiers (the only ones LOs would take)
- a VERY loud Vicks humidifer (doubles as white noise)
- baby washcloths (don't get the cheapy ones, they don't absorb)
- waterproof bibs for massive drooling
- terry cloth sheet saver.. saves having to change the entire sheet set after drool messes
- hooded towels (we use all of ours)
- Jumparoo
Unneeded:
- those tiny receiving blankets. I don't know what those are good for, maybe for catching drool?
- paci clips (we could never get these to function correctly)
- bumbo
- baby oil (what do you do with this stuff, it made LO a slippery mess!)
- crib shoes, completely useless
- fancy clothes in 0-3 mo size (they were never worn)
- sterilizer bags (ended up washing all bottle and pump parts in the dishwasher)

Agree with @jojogirl - I totally bookmarked this for when I am ready to start shopping!
cherry / 176 posts
Must have:
-baby nail scissors
-Rock 'n play (which I discovered thanks to HB--only place she would sleep at all at the beginning)
-Changing area on each floor (2-story house: changing table in her room upstairs and then we use the dining room table downstairs because a) we never eat there and b) it cleans easier then any of our other furniture)
-Cloth diapers, love them!
-Video monitor (huge help because DD's screams of misery and shrieks of joy sound exactly the same!)
-Some sort of white noise machine (we use an iPod with speaker that plays Harvey Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block CD)
-SwaddleMes (We actually wound up cutting holes in ours so we could stick her in the car seat once when she finally fell asleep being babysat and didn't want to wake her up for the 30 minute drive home).
Hate every time I see them:
-PJs with snaps all the way up. I am lazy and prefer zippered sleep sacks.
-Baby swing. She hates it. It's only on loan from my sister though so at least we're not out $.
-non- A&A swaddle blankets
nectarine / 2504 posts
Must have:
-Ergo w/ infant insert
-Cooshee changing pad (I love that I can wipe anything right off. Now that LO is older we leave it on the ground and he hangs out in it/crawls all over it)
-AA swaddle blankets
-miracle blanket
-woombie
-bibs (LO is a drool monster!)
-Robeez socks (they really don't come off when LO tugs!)
-swing (borrow or buy used)
-burpie clothes
Wish I would have gotten
-rock n play (LO uses this at day care and LOVES it)
nectarine / 2504 posts
@sotomorrow: I hate onesies that snap all the way up too! Especially when it's 4 AM and I can barely keep my eyes open--I start randomly snapping them together.
