I ignore strangers.
I change the subject with family and friends.
I want to be more confrontational in some situations!

I go at it with friends and coworkers.
I ignore strangers, unless I'm in a real mood, then I may say something.

Generally, I just ignore and maybe (quite obviously) roll my eyes. I am becoming slightly more assertive with family. MIL tried to give D a fork the other day at Easter, and I reached in a grabbed it and said, "Um, no forks, please." She said to D, "Oh, oops, I guess Mommy doesn't want you to eat like a big kid yet!" I said, "No, Mommy just doesn't want you stab yourself in the mouth with the fork since you're so aggressive with the spoon!" Don't assume that it's safe to give my kid a sharp object, and then belittle me for it!

My family or in-laws I will say something. I usually just ignore strangers.
@littlebug: that would make me SO mad!

@littlebug: I hate it when people scold me through my LO.

I usually let it roll off my back and assume the best. I don't think most peanut gallery comments are intended to be mean or snarky - some people could use a dose (or ten) of self-awareness though!

@Mrs. High Heels: same! I think people mean well and just say dumb things--I know I've said dumb things. But I'm lucky that I have very few actual rude things said to me.

I usually just ignore it/laugh it off, and then think of the PERFECT come back like a day later.
@littlebug: I hate that sooo much!!!

honestly? I think i'd just ignore but I wish I could confront or come back with something witty and nasty at the same time.
I haven't really been in any though (that I recall).

I usually say something like "did you really just say that?" and give them a look or tell them I think they are being rude or condescending.

I have no problem saying something to family, friends or strangers. The only people I keep quiet with are my inlaws...I wish I could be more aggressive with them because they say the most...

I usually just awkwardly laugh and maybe roll my eyes, then like 10 minutes later come up with a perfect snarky response. I then replay the situation in my head using that response until I've managed to convince myself that was what actually happened. In my head the other person is dazzled by my wit and immediately apologizes, and recognizes just how wrong they are, ha.

I usually let it go then get really furious about it afterwards and wish I had said something!! Then I come on here and moan about it!!

My goal is to always respond exactly like this. Sometimes it only happens in my head

I try to make it obvious the conversation needs to end by giving short, terse responses. We get asked a lot about LO's medical equipment and I stick to yes, no answers as much as possible!
