Just curious what other mamas and babies prefer. We've used regular Enfamil, Enfamil Gentlease, and now I'm using a sample Similac Sensitive. The Similac seems so bubbly when I mix it up so I don't think I'll buy more after this.

Right now we are using Enfamil Toddler Transitions, but we used the regular Enfamil infant for months 1-10. LO will be one this month so I expect I will not buy anymore formula and switch him to WCM soon.

I used Nestle Goodstart, the liquid concentrate ! I liked it a lot better than powders and it was much cheaper than the ready to feeds.

@BeachMama: totally agree with you on similac sensitive! We ended up on gerber good start gentle.

We started with Enfamil, then after a few months I switched to the Enfamil-comparable Target Up n' Up brand.

We use Holle brand and love it. It is German and they don't use added sweetners or soy product. It's hard to get though bc the FDA doesn't allow it to be sold here bc the milk is not irridated. The EU has much stricter standards for baby formula. Plus it's organic which is important to me.

@BeachMama: We used the Target version of Similac Sensitive. Much less frothy and much cheaper!

Nutramigen now, due to allergy issues. Before that we used target brand gentlease

@mrsjacks: There are several websites based in the UK, Australia and elsewhere that will ship it, even though shipping is pricey. You can also find it on eBay and I see it occasionally on my local parenting listerve. Also, if you have friends in Canada and Europe, they can ship it to you. Customs allows it to come in for personal use, but they don't allow it to be sold commercially.
This site we use:

Similac Sensitive, since I stopped BF at 4 weeks. She's never had a problem with the bubbles, but we do have some constipation issues every time she starts eating more per feeding.

Another vote for Baby's Only Organic. LO has really flourished on this formula and we've not had any tummy issues.

@coopsmama: @MRSHONEYBEAR: you used it with your infants? It's formulated as a toddler formula-- quite a different caloric mix than breast milk.

@Mrs. Jacks: I hear Baby's Only recommended all the time, particularly in my low supply Facebook group. When I tell them that it is not infant formula, they always say that it is only labeled as toddler formula because the company wants to promote breastfeeding, and that their pediatricians recommended or approved it. I remember us discussing the specific nutritional aspects that are missing/inappropriate in Baby's Only and I would love for you to detail that if you can, so I can share with folks.

Enfamil AR, on the advice of my ped to help with major spit up issues from lo's reflux. It really helped!

We use Similac Organic but I just found out there is a Walmart store brand that is supposed to be similar so we are going to try that.

@daniellemybelle: I'd have to look it up again, but I remember the protein being way off and the solute load being wrong for infant kidneys. Also, infant formulas are 19 cal/oz and the toddler formula is more calorie dense. I'm pretty swamped right now, but I'll make an effort to either find my old post or repeat the work to sort out the differences.

We use Earth's Best. I've found that using the Dr. Brown's formula pitcher helps to cut down on some of the air bubbles.

@Mrs. Jacks: Yeah, I know it's labeled as a toddler formula but our ped recommended it and my DS thrived on it from when we supplemented with it at 5 months and then began using it solely at 8 months (when I lost my supply completely due to pregnancy) until he he was bottle weaned at a year. We tried Earth's Best but it plugged DS up completely so Baby's Only it was. He's a healthy almost 2 year old so no ill effects if indeed it was a poor recommendation, thank goodness.

@coopsmama: luckily he was an older infant, so I think those factors are a little less crucial as they have more mature kidneys. Glad it worked for you!

We used Gerber Good Start when we were in the US...I never noticed it being foamy/bubbly when mixed and we just added the powder to water in the bottle and shook it.
One trick my mom taught me though, was to pull up on the nipple, it releases the air in the bottle so your baby doesn't suck it in.

We started with Similac (the regular blue one) and switched to Sams club after a couple weeks. It was SO much cheaper. We didn't need any sort of special formula as LO didn't have any tummy issues.

@Mrs. Jacks: My best friend uses this as well, based on her ped's recommendation. Her ped said the exact same thing that it's labeled toddler formula, but is perfectly fine for use for a newborn.

We used Enfamil. I wanted a formula that I could easily pick up in the store and Baby's Only isn't readily available near me. We never really had tummy trouble on it. Actually we had much more trouble the months I was EBF, he had tons of gas and discomfort.

@dc yoga bee: @coopsmama: @Mrs. Jacks: So interesting that pediatricians are recommending it, if it indeed is not appropriate for infants! Again, I have heard this elsewhere. I wonder why.
I tried to dig up your prior comments about this formula, Mrs. Jacks, and this is all I could find from an old thread:
"The caesin to other protein ratio is not correct for an infant. It is designed for toddlers."

@daniellemybelle: Yes, I think that's like anything though! Everyone is licensed, takes boards, but can have a completely different opinion! I think you just have to go with who you trust, and hopefully have a good relationship with.
