I didn't ask for extras of anything but I took one package of diapers, one package of wipes, a few baby shirts, two hats, two swaddling blankets, what was left of my pads and mesh underwear, a can of dermaplast, and a peri bottle.

Pads and mesh undies that I didn't use. A few hats and baby shirts and a little bowl for sponge bathing.

We took everything we had already paid for (as noted on our bill) - diapers, wipes, peri bottle, pads, mesh undies, a swaddle blanket, a snot sucker and a hat.

Diapers, wipes, disposable pads, peri bottle, mesh undies, pads, little pink basin, kimono shirts, hats, and hospital swaddle blankets. Oh, and the nurses showed up the last day with a giant goodie bag including: formula, more diapers, and a little changing table organizer by Similac. I love the organizer and still use it for all of the little bottles and nicknacks by DD's changing area.

anything that wasn't nailed down! I brought the nurses a birthday cake as our gift from the babies and they brought in extra stuff a little while later. I took home peri bottle, mesh undies, blankets, shirts, diapers, wipes, pacifiers (they are the best so I kept calling and saying they dropped on the floor to get extra's and I came home with about 10), formula samples, 2 pink bins that I used to wash them with at first, pads, formula (that I still have 9 months later since we EHMF the twins), trial sizes of baby shampoo/soap/lotion, some soda/apple/prune juice, crackers and a t-shirt the hospital gives all new borns from the hospital as a gift.

@littleveesmommy: Not to thread-jack but I saw you're in NYC - did you give birth in Manhattan?

Diapers, cloth wipes, pack of Vaseline and gauze (for the circ), paci, bulb aspirator, hat, 2 tubs of tucks, 2 bottles epi foam, 2 peri bottles, mesh undies, tons of giant pads.

@LindsayInNYC: I did! I was at St Lukes Roosevelt on the west side. =)
Oh you ladies reminded me - also took bulb aspirator, sample shampoo/lotion, gauze, and pacis. Like @Ms.SK, pretty much anything that wasn't nailed down.

@littleveesmommy: Ahh. My doctor is affiliated with NYU Langone. I'm hoping all NYC hospitals are that generous!

Pads and diapers. I think I stole a thin cotton blanket as well. I wanted mesh panties but I couldn't find their stash and the nurses couldn't find any either

@buffalove: HAHA ditto.
And my mom felt it necessary to take the rubber gloves. Don't ask. She's Asian is all I can say!

@LindsayInNYC: Many of my friends had given birth at NYU Langone and they definitely got lots of goodies too! I've heard that NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell gives a Chanel goodie bag, Ralph Lauren footed pj, and some other stuff - crazy!

@littleveesmommy: Whaaat?! I might have to change doctors We're moving to Southern Westchester and will be walking distance to Lawrence Hospital but I think I'd prefer NYC anyways.

@LindsayInNYC: Haha seriously - I'm considering getting myself there for the next one! I chose St Lukes since I did their birthing center but ended up emergency c-section, so I'm not eligible for the birthing center anymore. Time to choose another doc lol. Westchester is just a hop skip and jump away from NYC so not bad - NYU Langone is nice and I haven't heard any complaints from friends who birthed there. My niece was born there during the blackout in early 2000's and the L&D ward remained a calm place.

an obscene amount for both births. all the typical baby stuff (and tons of it) and also a sitz bath, nipple gel pads, chanel perfume, chanel eye cream, chanel eye shadow, ralph lauren romper....

@Mrs. Bee: whoa! the chanel and RL romper from the hospital?!
same as PPs, the only instructions to us were not to take any linens (LOL). we made out like bandits.

@sorrycharlie: yup with both births. it's a gift bag that they give to all new moms.

Yup. Similar here. I actually asked a nurse what we could take, since my DH was skeptical that we could just take diapers and things (they had refilled our drawer of them the night before, knowing we were leaving the next day)... So, diapers, wipes, tub we use now for soaking bottles, baby wash, peri bottle, mesh panties, giant pads, bulb-snot-thing, several lanolin samples... We actually had a nurse walking around and opening drawers and things and handing us stuff to take. It was great.
