I have a MacBook that is several years old And has several issues. I was thinking of getting a MacBook pro but a bit pay of me wants a non apple laptop. But most other brands seem really large, bulky or expensive or don't have a dvd drive. Can you recommend a sleek laptop which you like?

I have a Lenovo and I really like it. It's a few years old though, so not sure what the equivalent model would be now!

MacBook Air and I love it! I had never had a Mac before, and I don't know that I could go back. I'm not particularly loyal to Apple, I just love this computer

My macbook pro is on its last legs, and I considered going PC... but I don't know. I love too many of the conveniences that Apple offers and I'm just so used to the interface. I'm looking into getting another 13" macbook pro with retina display. Haven't bit the bullet yet though so I'll be following this thread!

@Mrsbells: I have never even heard of Lenovo before I bought mine, but I was looking for a very particular set of things (at the time I wanted a 17" monitor, an i5 intel processor, and 6GB+ ram). This was the only laptop I could find that fit my needs within my budget! And I've had zero issues with it in the 3 years I've had it!

Dh just bought me the 15" Macbook pro with retina display. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I previously used a PC and its what I prefer. However, DH is a software engineer and wanted an OSX machine at home for him to test out. So, I ended up with the Macbook Pro and I run VM Ware on it so I can still use Windows on it. Lol.

I have a Macbook Air. It's very small and portable (and cute), which is nice, but I swear I filled up the whole hard drive 5 minutes after getting it. I don't think I would get this same laptop again if I was looking for a new one now. My husband just bought an MSI laptop which he loves. I think it is more tailored to gaming, which he doesn't do, but needs some of the same capabilities when he's working from home.

I have a Macbook (the discontinued white one) and after it dies I'm definitely getting a pro or air! The windows tablet stuff now look pretty cool but I've really loved our my mac operates.

Thanks everyone... I am kind of torn between getting the macbook pro or a regular pc laptop. I feel like macbooks have much smaller ram and harddrive compared to PC laptops in the same price range

Lenovo ThinkPad. We are a ThinkPad family and have 3 of them.
We also have a Macbook, but I wasn't a fan, even using Windows on it.

mac book air! love the flash harddrive (can configure up to 512gb) & it runs so fast even when im running a virtual OS (windows)/heavy stats software.. (have 8gb ram/1.7 core i7 processor). and it's sooo portable <3.

Okay so.... I even work for Apple and sell Macs.... And I just built myself a PC in January and switched back. Lol! I loved my iMac but the software incompatibilities and other odd stuff and the non-upgradeability just really started to aggravate me.
I'd look at Toshiba and Sony for a PC laptop. The new Sony Vaios have some really cool features.
The thing about the MacBooks. The Air is not powerful, at all. It only has. 1.3 dual core i5 in it. When I could pay less for one with a 2.5 quad i7 (not to mention more RAM and a 1TB harddrive), that is just crazy talk. The traditional MacBook Pro is 2 years outdated because they haven't been upgrading up it with the other models. And the MacBook Pro with Retina doesn't even have a full video card unless you spend to get the $2700 15" model. The 13" models still only have dual core i5 processors. Not to mention that the Retina model has all it's hardware components soldered together inside, so if anything breaks.... It's trash or it costs a fortune to have it fixed.
Honestly, they are really not keeping up with the laptop market.. You could twice as much computer with a PC and spend less.
I'm not saying I hated my Mac or it was crap... I'm just saying that I like my PC more. I spent less than $1000 to built my desktop and it's more powerful than the most expensive $2000 iMac.

Work just upgraded us to Macbook Air. Just getting used to it. It has 250gb storage. I have to get an external Dvd drive.

I've had a Dell for 5-6 years. It's clunky, but it hast lasted a long time in laptop years!
I went to Best Buy last night to get some hands-on experience with a potential new laptop. The Lenova and Sony laptops stood out as top contenders. I'm happy to hear people like them!

Dells - only because when I get my laptop upgraded at work, I can keep the old one, so that's what we've been doing
Works for our Word, Excel and Internet needs. Besides that, we just have iTunes and photos on our computer, so we don't need anything fancy.

@Mrsbells: sorry, I just saw this! Yes, I have Microsoft Office-I wouldn't want to do without it. I use mine mostly for word processing, and I love it for its lightness and its battery life. But I could see how other people would want more in the matter of power. I just don't need that right now.
