If any! I need something paper in my hand to read (I am addicted to my phone but don't use it around my son so it's torture). I had Real Simple and Marie Claire subscriptions for a while, they're ok. I'm too old and disenchanted for fashion mags.
Anything paper you recommend?

Do you like to cook? (Or, read about cooking if you don't actually have time to cook?) I get Milk Street (which is quarterly) and Bon Appetit (though I think Food and Wine is usually more interesting). I also get the New Yorker. It's expensive and sometimes hard to keep up with, but I love it. Since I'm so focused on work and parenting, it's one of the things that makes me feel like an actual separate person with outside knowledge and not just teacher and mom.

Oh! Good question- I want some recommendations too! Currently I'm getting the Food Network Magazine. There are some ok recipes, but nothing that exciting. I probably won't renew it.

If you like to cook, I recommend Cooking Light.
The New Yorker can be a fun read too, depending on your tastes.

If you are into crafting or homesteading at all (even as a voyeur) Taproot is beautiful, ad free, and has wonderful articles. Its a company I feel good about supporting, and I always enjoy looking at the magazine.

@Chuckles: I like to cook but digital recipes work best for me. I like like lifestyle stuff? Women's interests, but nothing like Glamour or Cosmo. I like DIY and house decorating.

@pachamama: Have you ever tried Real Simple? It covers a lot of “women’s magazine” subjects but I think it’s much more visually appealing and the content is a little more elegant.

I subscribe to Good Housekeeping, RedBook and Womens Day. I could do without Womens Day, to be honest though.
I had previously subscribed to Better Homes and Gardens, Martha Stewart Living and Real Simple, but I decided that they were too aspirational for my lifestyle.

@looch: too aspirational lolol I get it. I was reading Oprah and there was a recipe for "something something confit" and I was like, I will die before I ever prepare something I can't pronounce.

I get Real Simple and Better Homes and Gardens. Both cover a nice variety of lifestyle/cooking/gardening/light fashion-shopping topics/travel. Sometimes things are a little aspirational for me but I almost always come away with ideas - either for the future or with some way to modify for the now. I also loved Cooking Light (found I made the most recipes from there vs. other mags). In the past I had Southern Living, Family Circle, Martha Stewart Living, and Woman's Day. I pared down to the above two after looking at which ones I actually read and used each month once promo pricing or gift subscriptions were up.

Better Homes & Garden (thanks to my mom), Magnolia (it's all very much above what my house will ever look like with my house keeping skills, but it's pretty), although I don't subscribe to it I would sometimes buy The Bump while pregnant.

I also love Real Simple but have up on it until DD2 is a little older and I can actually read again. I miss it!

@erinbaderin: I do like EW. They have discerning insights into media. But for the last few years whenever I read it I'm like... Who are these people? What is this movie?!! I experienced what I call a "media brown out" in the two years after I had my kid and I don't think I will ever rebound. #old -
@pachamama: you're smart enough for the New Yorker, it's just that the articles are long and completely incompatible with reading/skimming while you're watching kids.
@Chuckles: @hellobeeboston: we used to subscribe and then I had to institute a rule that any New Yorker over 1 year old was getting thrown out--I wasn't even trying to read every article but we just could not keep up, even with long MTA commutes--I realized it was either read the New Yorker, or read any books I was interested in, but no time for both.
ETA no love for Garden & Gun??!!

World’s nerdiest child!I have the same problem with EW, I used to read every article and now sometimes I can get through an issue in 15 minutes. I probably should cancel it but I’ve been a subscriber for 20 years!
