Chloe (I don't think it goes with our last name)
Christian (DH doesn't like it)

Alice. It's a family name, but it doesn't sound good with our last name.

I loved Autumn, but DH hated it. Luckily, we are having a boy so no worries there

Meridian. But I don't think that's even really a name, haha. I first heard it back when I was in high school, from one of the old Batman movies, and Nicole Kidman's character was named Chase Meridian. I really liked the way the word rolled off my tongue and I thought using "Meri" as a nickname would be cute. But no, would never be brave enough to use it!

Anastasia. Penelope. I think they're beautiful, but they're too fancy for our last name:)

Henry - loved the idea of having a little boy named Henry, but then I taught 7th grade and had a child from hell named Henry. I don't ever want to have to say that name again. Occupational hazard of teaching - you are inevitably going to come across a nightmare child with a name that you had previously loved.
I also loved the name Noah but DH absolutely hated it. In fact, his response was Noah? Uh, NO-ah.

@Mrs. Jacks: I went to high school with a Zenobia...she was a year younger and very unique but super confident and nice...she was in drama with my best friend and class president and just and overall a nice girl so I have positive associations with that name but agree it would take a strong girl to pull it off
I love the name Everly but my husband is not crazy about it. I also love the name Bryn but again he's not crazy about it. I also like the name Kristen but he dated a crazy girl with that name so he's not crazy about it.
For boys I love the names Nolan, Evan and Logan but they don't sound good with our last name
ETA: I also love Gianna for a girl

I also love Thomas but DH has several good friends and family members with that name!

@sandy: the Zenobia I knew was a strong but quiet African American 2 nd grade teacher. She made such an impression on me... And she was our chorus teacher too. I loved her!

I love the name Jack, but it would not work well with our last name. The poor child would be constantly teased, I'm afraid.
We were also going to go with Will Raymond, but we soon realized that our families would start calling him Billy Ray... no way.

I love the name Atticus for a boy but DH hates it! He even got my grandma to back him! Veto
For a girl, I love the names Penelope (Penny is so cute) but DH isn't sold, plus we do have a girl name we agree on so I'm not too sad about not getting to use it.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Beatrice is my daughter's name =)
I liked Matilda and Eleanor but my husband said no. We both liked Lucy but didn't work well with our last name. I also like Madeline but it was too popular.
We liked the Blue for a boy but would not sound good with our last name. But our son's name came to us on a tangent off of the name blue.

I love Summer but in the UK its a certain type of person who'd name a child Summer......
I also love Heidi but it doesn't go with our last name and is a little twee.....
Both of the names I would use for a girl - Lois and Larkin - have been vetoed by DH, so its back to the drawing board!
pomelo / 5469 posts
I like Jessica and Sophia but think they are too common. I like Heidi but DH hates it. I like Summer but wouldn't use it as I think it's a bit out there. I also quite like Chloe, but my niece has that name.
Boys names aren't a problem, so far

Samantha. I love the name but I hate nicknames. That Anne just screams, call me Sam.

I've loved Jackson for years (family name), but my best friend just used it on her new LO a few weeks ago. It's also getting more and more popular. Addison is too close to my MIL, and Ashton is too close to my name.
@Ree723: I teach, too, and I can relate! I cringe at the beginning of the year when I see names I like, and I cross my fingers that they're well-behaved!

Sadie. Dh doesn't like it. And Beatrice. It's actually Dhs family name, but he hates it.

Simone. Love that name, but it belongs to a grown up woman in my mind, not a baby. I love Spanish names, which might confuse people if I had a Leo, Carmen, Marianna running around with me as I am not latina. And I love a lot of Biblical names, which DH is not so excited about: Elijah, Noah, Selah.
pomegranate / 3604 posts
Victoria - i love it but its my best friends' daughters name.
Ever - its not really a name but I love it.
Liam, Ben, Noah - I have first cousins once removed with those names, so no go. And Liam is too popular now.
ETA: oh ya, the names Mary Jane & Bud do not go with DH's last name. Like, I would consider it child abuse if we named them that.

Loden, like the shade of green...I thought it would be cute with the girls name we picked which means green, but DH hates it and says it doesn't go with our last name (ends in -wen).
Ezra, but again DH hates it. I have always loved this name but I think people would automatically think of PPL now.

@LMOG47: @Mrs. Jacks: Love Elias! It always makes me think of the song by Dispatch! One of my all time favorite songs.
nectarine / 2797 posts
Benjamin, DH and I both love it but it's a no go with our last name. Theodore, love this name, but LO is Eleanor so we'd look like crazy Roosevelt fans.
grapefruit / 4120 posts
@purkle: my husband also vetoed Catalina!
He also said no to Agatha, Agnese and Martin.
Francesca is another fave.

I have a tendency to lean towards "old-fashioned" or classic girl's names. I love Eleanor, Evelyn and Nora. Sadly, DH does not share the love.
persimmon / 1341 posts
Hudson. Change the first vowel and you have our last name so there is no way the two could go together which makes me so sad because I love it.

@Cherrybee: Aw I love the name Summer! What kind of person? (genuinely curious!)

Maple, and when I was younger I was in love with the name Persephone.

Emma (too close to my sisters name), leah ( too close to Los name), Alexander (dhs name). Also Liam because we're not Irish.

@anbanan15: Oh hell yeah! Dispatch FTW!!! Hahaha, that's all I kept thinking of too every time someone mentioned Elias!

I love the name Blythe. At first it sounds not so good, but it grows on you. DH hated it though.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
Marek, because I'm not brave enough. Michael, because Mike runs into our last name and sounds like something silly and Jack because it rhymes with our last name and sounds ridiculous.

I love the name Harvey. It was my grandfather's name and he and I shared an amazing bond throughout my childhood. DH doesn't mind the name for a second LO (if we have one) but prefers it as a middle name. We get really negative reactions from most other people though, including my grandmother! Apparently, my grandfather HATED his name. Lol. She said if he were alive, and I named my child Harvey, he'd probably slap me around a bit (jokingly, of course!).
honeydew / 7586 posts
I have also be obsessed with the name Javy (just Javy, not Javier) since I was little. I used to secretly hope I'd marry a Hispanic man so I could use it. Buuuttttt I married an Italian and Javy would sound a little odd with out last name.
pomegranate / 3643 posts
James - doesn't work with last name
Agnes - DH doesn't like
Molly - dh's ex (so bummed about that!)
Abigail - too popular/I don't like Abby.
Crispin - not gutsy enough/DH hates
