I love the name Bainbridge but I'd never use it (and DH would never allow me to).
Do you have any names you'd never use but that you love?

Charles : ( its my brother and grandfather's name but Charlie is just becoming too popular for me.

Tom (it's my husband's uncle's name and I wouldn't want it to seem like we were naming a baby after him since I'm not a fan of his)
Marcel (brother-in-law's middle name that he now goes by; also not a fan of him!)
Angelina (always loved this name because of the Angelina Ballerina books I read as a child, but now there's too much association with Angelina Jolie)

Morgan - doesn't go with our last name
Tyler - DH associates it with another child, so he won't allow it, but I love it.

matilda, but 'matty' rhymes with my name & i don't want rhyming names
and emmerson, but our last name starts with 'E' and ends in 'son' so i don't think it sounds good together =(
tallulah, because i don't want her to grow up and hate me =)

DH already vetoed these: Samantha, Vivienne
Landon is too similiar to BIL

Berlyn - someone I know (who I'm not find of) used it and I know she'd think we copied her if we named our future daughter Berlyn...and although I think it's beautiful I don't love it that much!
persimmon / 1420 posts
Claire- another friend used it; Stella- my mom hates it and isn't shy about letting her opinions be known.

@autumnlove: @MrsTiz: I love Eleanor too. I always wanted to use to name my daughter after my grandma, call her Ellie, but DH doesn't like it and doesn't go with our last name.

@Smurfette: I loove it but it's too old fashioned for me to use.
I'll elaborate on mine a little more.. love Ryan, but DH is Brian. Love Emily but my niece is Emma. Maggie because it's normally a nickname and I hate that and all the extended names for it.

Jack but we know too many kids with that name and both of our moms have bad Jacks in their past.
I also really like E names but they're all too similar to mine that it would sound too matchy-matchy.

Boden. I love it but our last name ends is a "den/din" sound so it doesn't work.
Zinnia- I'm not brave enough to use it

Lily - this was always my "what I'll name my future baby" name, but it's just too popular.

Remy/Remington/remlyn Dh vetos everytime I suggest it. Sighhhh I would so name my daughter that.

Poppy. My Dad decided (without even discussing with me!!!) that he was going to be Poppy instead of Grandpa or whatever. Annoyed me mightily!!

@Mrs. Pen: My first name and my husbands first name rhyme. My maiden name and my married name rhyme, too!

@Running Elley: DH LOVES Landon, but I know three (two friends of mine, one of his, all named their sons Landon), so I nixed it.

@rachiecakes: I'd nix it in that situation too. Sad! We dont know any!!
We also both like Buckley but I dont think we'd ever be gutsy enough to use it.
persimmon / 1233 posts
Sloane. DH hates it sadly, plus it doesn't really go with our last name. I think it's so elegant though!
pomegranate / 3314 posts
@rachiecakes: Aw, I think Clementine is really sweet!
Our last name is Jones, so there are quite a few that have funny/weird associations - like Tom or Molly. And then I really like the name Benjamin, but I don't want a child with the initials B.J. There are also a lot of great one syllable names, but again - with such a short last name they don't always sound so great.

@septemberlove: I know that answering a question with a question is the very worst of manners, but are there official or unofficial rules for not naming children after ex-BFs/GFs?
My LO is a boy, and, as far as I am aware (!), DW didn't date anyone with his name, but I can imagine that sometimes this can take away some very obvious or compelling choices. Just wondered whether that was a thing, or not.

Zenobia is a love name for us, but it is so big that it's hard to be brave enough to use it...

Reese, Morgan & Bristol. The first two have become too popular and while Bristol has personal family significance Bristol Palin kind ruined it for me.

Love Diana for a wee girl and Jude for a boy but DH is not keen on either

Oh, and I especially love the name Elias...it's a family name. DH isn't a fan, I'm still holding out hope, however.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@LMOG47: I love Elias too... But a friend with excellent taste used it and I don't have a boy.

Primrose. I thought it was so sweet sounding when I read The Hunger Games. But, I wouldn't use it because that's where I learned it from. Dh didn't like it, either. I pushed it a little for a middle name, but even I didn't like how it sounded with the first and last name we already had.
nectarine / 2765 posts
@Mrs. Jacks *sigh* It's my favorite, I'm really hoping to use my powers to change his mind. Heh
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@LMOG47: if it's any consolation, it's getting quite popular.

Jude, but only be ause it runs into our last name and sounds weird...
GOLD / pear / 1845 posts
Scarlet. I love it. Also Audrey. I don't think I would use them even if I had more girls but I love them.
