My anesthesia failed during my C-section so my recovery was pretty rough with level 9 or 10 pain. I think I tried everything they had and what worked the best was Norco staggered with 2 other meds.

I just took ibuprofen after my c-section. I guess it's not the norm but I really had very little pain. The nurses kept trying to get me to take Percocet but I didn't want it.

Vicodin and ibuprofen, but the Vicodin made me sick, so just ibuprofen. I had a vaginal delivery.

Just ibuprofen. I took it around the clock for about 36 hours pp... not really to treat pain, but more to prevent it and help swelling go down. Had vaginal births both times.

I took two doses of Percocet after the epidural wore off, and was on a steady dose of Motrin until I left the hospital. My lady bits were sore and all, but I had some awful, awful cramping.

I was given a choice of Motrin or Tylenol with codeine after my vaginal birth. I was more uncomfortable than anything so I chose the Motrin. The latter seemed overkill.

Nothing for my vaginal birth, and percocet and ibuprophen for after my c-section.

I was given 800 milligram Motrin for my vaginal birth. I wanted something either stronger or more often as it seemed to wear off quickly but thats all I got.

I've had bad reactions to Vicodin after I had my wisdom teeth extracted so I have only taken Tylenol with codeine and it works great for me. I had a csection and even though they wanted to give me something stronger the Tylenol was fine as long as I "got ahead of the pain" and took it at regular intervals throughout the day and night

Percocet and ibuprofen after my C-section. The percocet made me totally loopy.

Vicodin, Motrin and Ibuprofen. I had 3rd degree tears so I needed them for a while!

Percocet after my csection. I also had tylenol or motrin, I can't remember which.

I had a walking epidural for two days after my c-section, then I got lortab.

I had the option of taking oxycodone after my c section, but my pain was manageable with just anti inflammatories and Tylenol...

I had the option of ocycodone after my med free vaginal birth but declined. I ended up just taking Motrin and it worked pretty well.

Tylenol 3 (I only have one left, so I'm rationing it until I really need it one more time.
Also, 800 mg of Ibuprofin to take every 8 hours as needed...I didn't need this as much until these past few days, when the cramps started getting bad at night. Now I love them more than the codine, lol.

I just got the 800mg Ibuprofen. I actually was more sore than I was in pain but they kept asking me if I was sure I didn't want any. I think I took it once in the hospital and then just got my prescription filled just in case I needed it.

They gave me some mega-low dose aspirin. I took it for maybe 2 days (as much as they gave me). Yeh, it was sad, but at the time I thought I didn't need it.

Vaginal delivery - Motrin 800 and Tylenol w codeine. I didn't take the Tylenol much after the first few days because it knooooocked me out! I took Motrin for weeks, gradually lessening the amount.

@Bluebonnet: same here! I had the vicodin during the day and started feeling woozy and seeing things while I was laying in bed listening to my Mom and husband talk. It was all very weird and decided it was just Ibuprofen after that mess.

They offered me something but I declined both times.
Had pain but it was bearable. 3rd and 2nd degree tears but I was on baby highs.

Mostly Motrin, but I did get one Perc in the evening after I gave birth. I waited until then to take it since I knew it would knock me out.

Ibuprofen after vaginal delivery. I continued to take it for a few weeks because my hip was basically dislocated during delivery.
I didn't want anything that would knock me out because I co-slept from the beginning and was afraid of being too drugged up.

I only took Motrin after my c-section. Oddly enough, I had anaesthasia issues and had to be knocked out mid surgery, but Motrin was enough for the recovery. To be honest, I think I needed it more for the pain from breastfeeding than the c-section.
pomegranate / 3008 posts
Motrin. I was also prescribed vicodin but I never took it because I was breastfeeding and never needed it.

@autumnlove: Hey, that's really terrifying. Did you suffer from it afterwards? I'm so sorry to hear!
My epidural failed during my induction, so they kept pumping more into it. I didn't really have any pain meds after it wore off, I felt pretty good in general.

Toradol after G which was AWESOME, followed by percocet (allergic to codeine so no loratab for me).
After P was just ibuprofen... I don't take any kind of pain meds anymore unless absolutely necessary, I didn't even take them after my wisdom teeth removal.
