It's 40% of my salary. 12% if you count DH's and mine together.

When I was working, it was about 40% going to daycare, too. Thing is, after that, my take-home earnings became even smaller when we got hit with taxes to pay every April.

25% more or less. This is of my total income which is our entire household income...sigh...only until july!

@Bookish: yikes! You got me beat on the combined number.
Mine is so high because I have to pay for full time care though I only work part time.

37% of my gross (not including DH), but net is much higher 49%
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
12% of mine, 6% of both of our gross but it looks uglier net!

IF we get into the daycare we're hoping for, it will be 22.8% of my gross and around 10% of our combined gross...I don't know what our net will be after we adjust withholdings and such, since we won't do that until LO is born. If we end up having to hire a nanny, it would probably be close to 38% of my gross salary...that would really hurt!

I decided to stay at home but the only places with openings would have been way more than half my take home!

Ouch. 50% of my gross income, 21% of our combined gross income. But, that's for two babies in infant care. Can't wait til we switch daycares in February!!

@yellowbird: you're the winner so far!!! What is your daycare arrangements?
grapefruit / 4235 posts
17% of my gross pay, 9.5 combined (base) about 6% if you count in my husbands bonus.
papaya / 10560 posts
nearly 25% of mine...don't even want to think about what it will be for two.
I'd still take over a 25K paycut if I were to quit my job and stay at home to save on child care though...

Still on maternity leave but ours will be 30% of my net, 16% of our combined net, 14% if you include our rental income. That's only for three days a week though - I will work full time, but it's 12 hour shifts so we don't need full time care.

@jedeve: we do part time at an in home daycare. I also live in a very affordable area
pomelo / 5258 posts
20% of my gross, 9% of our gross. When we move to an in home daycare next month it will drop to 13% of my gross.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
10% of mine, a few percent less combined. This is of take home.
persimmon / 1420 posts
64% of mine alone (take home). Ugh, @DillonLion:, I beat you. Sad face.
GOLD / pomelo / 5737 posts
@Foodnerd81: Me too!!! Went back for a bit, but for various reasons didn't stay at the job, and at that job it would have been about 50% of gross pay...
pineapple / 12566 posts
2.5% of our combined salary. Daycare is heavily subsidized here though, the state pays half of the tuition for residents.

It would be about 50% of my take home income for an infant if I can get a position upon my return that's even conducive to a daycare setup. 15% of our combined net income. If we had to get a nanny that can help with overnights and crazy hours... 70%??
Which is why we're seriously considering me going back part time or working at different days/times since we're both shift workers and child care is SO expensive here.
