When I was pregnant with ds, I gave birth to him 8 weeks early, during a new moon. There were LOTS of NICU babies born that day, actually. I remember it being hard for them to find beds for all the little ones.
This Sunday another new moon is coming up, and I'll only be a day short of 35 weeks, so I'm getting a little paranoid.
I suppose a lot of you are counting on it to help, though!
What did the moon look like when you had your LO's?

I didn't remember so I looked it up. And it was a new moon! Although I went 4 days overdue.

@katiew92081: Haha, I'm sorry. Like I said, I was 4 days overdue so maybe it'll be the next new moon for you.
Edit: Just to add to it further, I was also a new moon baby.

@belugabean: Yeah, I still have another full lunar month before my due date, so I know not to be TOO paranoid. I think just the history of preterm labor adds to it.
Good idea of looking up the day you were born! I was a half moon, and dh was a 3/4 moon.

I delivered a week late (induced), and it was a waxing crescent. I just checked, and I was also born on a waxing crescent!

Well, now looking at our family, with me being half moon, dh being 3/4 moon and ds being a new moon, maybe she's gonna be the full moon one, haha!

@KatieW92081: When I arrived at L&D on Friday afternoon, (it was a surprise induction), there were only 1 or 2 other women there. By the time I delivered Saturday night, there were more than 10 women in L&D.

@katiew92081: I was going to look up when DH was born too but he was a scheduled c-section so I figured it wouldn't play that well into if the new moon affects labor or not.

@belugabean: Yeah, I'm not sure if that would really count. I'm trying to decide if inductions count, too, lol. I guess if they're surprises, like @mslipgloss had, they would count, cause that would mean other factors were there that could have possible been affected by the moon?

97.25% full- it was a Saturday, and the full moon was going to be Monday. I was sure he would at least arrive on the full moon, but my water broke and he made his escape a couple days before the full moon.
I spent Monday night in the nesting room in the NICU and tons of babies were born- that place was hopping! We got sent to a lower priority room in the NICU while we waited for our bilirubin results.
I've always heard that the full moon was when things trend to happen. When I worked in the veterinary ER, we would always dread full moons, they would be the craziest nights!

@lemondrop: yeah, I read that hospitals staff extra on full moon nights...not only l&d, but the ER as well. I've been reading a bit online today, and I guess the new moon also has a trend of being tricky.

Waxing crescent moon phase on the Sept 18 2012. When we got to L&D on the 17th it was crazy. We also had a lot of NICU babies who had to be put in a regular room. the floor was crazy there were hardly any beds for new moms.

Waxing crescent, 1.78% full. I went 8 days late but labour started naturally.

DH was born with a 98% full moon, I was born with a 97% new moon... it will be so neat to see how it plays out when LO comes along (someday!)
