I used to try an 8 pm bedtime, but it never works so now I'm trying a later bedtime and seeing if that helps. It's 8:38 and am going to start it now!
What time do you start bedtime?

Lately we do bath at 630, jammies, she drinks any milk she has left her in sippy, brush teeth, books, and in the crib at 7. Then it takes her 5-30 mins to fall asleep.

6:00 get home
6:15 dinner
6:30-6:45 bath (depending on how long dinner takes)
6:45-7 naked time
7-7:15 PJs, brushing teeth and reading
7:15 in crib and normally asleep by 7:30.

It still depends on what time her second nap ends but we start our routine between 6:45 and 7:15 and it takes about 20 minutes.

6:45 ish is when we start bath, then it's jammies, nurse, two books and bed. He's out cold in 15 minutes usually.

@mrbee: for the kids or you?! Haha. I start my bedtime routine around 9pm. We do bedtime for M at 6/6:10 and she's in bed by 6:30/6:40.

@mediagirl: for the kids. Olive is rarely asleep before 10 these days. Charlie was the same way at her age.

@mrbee: oh my. I would really struggle with that! I hope you can get it earlier for her (and you!!)

D and M get pjs on at 7. The next hour is spent reading, brushing teeth and winding down. At 8, D goes to bed but he's allowed to read quietly until it's dark. Afterwards I nurse and rock M until he's out. Then I get my pjs on and watch tv in bed with DH until we fall asleep.

We try to start bedtime at 7. Sometimes it slips as late as 7:30 though, especially in the summer.

@mediagirl: The solution for our son was to start pre-K, which wipes him out! She'll be in a 3s program next year, which I hope tires her out before 10/11!!

Usually 7-7:30pm. Tonight, it was that but he didn't fall asleep until almost 9 thanks to a number of factors: upstairs neighbors, doctor's visit, late play and dinner.

On no nap days I start running her bath at 6:15 and she comes up about 5-10 minutes later. Then stories, potty and lights our by 7:00.
Most days she naps so I start running her bath at 7:15. Lights out by 8:00/8:15. She gets one more story on these days bc she isn't as tired at bedtime

We usually start her bath between 6 and 6:15, and she's in the crib about a half-hour later (sometimes sleeping, sometimes not). Today, she had a late nap so everything was shifted forward about an hour and she's still rolling around in her crib making noise. Hopefully she'll be out within the next 20 minutes or so.

@mrbee: with the one nap transition and an overtired kiddo...we've been starting at 5:00 PM! It's nuts. She was asleep by 5:25

@Mrs. Deer: That's music to my ears!! I try to work in the evenings, but often I fall asleep putting her down if she doesn't go down by 10:30/11.

We started baths as early as 5:45 if the kids are sleeping at 6:30. I start around 6 if they are sleeping at 7.

Bath is usually around 6:30, then milk, books, some play, and in bed around 7/7:30 depending on nap.

It takes me an hour to get my son bathed, pajamas on, read to, milk drunk, etc. We start at 7.
I think our problem is that the bath is just too long. He loves it and I don't want to cut it short, really.

Suuuuuper early. USually around 5:30-6:00 (depending on when her last nap was). I've tried pushing it out, and she still gets up at the same early ungodly hour, so I figure I might as well put her down early and get a few extra hours in!

6:50 - in bed by 7:15. Though if he seems tired, we'll start earlier.

We start baths at 7, and bed time for DS is at 7:30 but he will stall and have to go potty 3 or 4 times before he falls asleep, so last night it was 9pm sleep time. For DD she goes to her room at 8:30 and is out immediately.

We have a late bedtime too. I start around 8:30 and inevitably he goes down by 9 or 10 no matter what I do. It kind of works though cause he is not a long sleeper and I don't need him up at 4 or 5. No thank you!

He goes to sleep between 7:45 and 8:30. I do bedtime in chunks since I'm solo at night and have to get dinner made, etc.
6:00 - arrive home
6:15 - let the dogs out, play, I start dinner while I put C in the high chair with his 'appetizers'
6:45 - 7:00 - Eat dinner
7:30 - Bath
7:45-8:30-ish - PJs, nursing, book, lights out
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Try to start at 7 because if he's in bed by 730 he should be asleep by 8. But sometimes it's 730...

We take LMW up just past 6 and she's in bed by 6:20... Wagon Jr. goes up right after her and he's in bed no later than 6:45.
