We are starting to look at daycares for our LO due in February and I have no idea what I'm doing. What should I be looking for? And what should I be asking when I go to tour places?

Teacher to student ratio
What type of meals do they serve
What is their daily schedule
Do they do things like watch TV or use a computer?
How many times do they go outside.
What type of education do the teachers have (if you care).
What type of correspondence will you get from the teachers (daily sheets of info, just verbal info, etc?)
How long have the teachers been in this room?
How do they discipline?
What type of "extra" activities or fun events do they offer?
Make sure to talk to the teachers in the room first. Do you feel comfortable with them? Do you see your lo being comfortable in that room? Would you be happy dropping off and picking up every day there?
Then...after all the searching is done...what does your gut say?

Most of the tours covered a lot of the typical questions. I am looking for infant care so some of the questions don't really apply yet.
My main concerns were price & flexibility. When I called I already weeded out centers that can't do part time programs.
A lot of it is gut too.. I'd def ask the about their licensing, ratio, disaster plans (one center talked to us about all the different plans they have from weather related to potential terrorist attacks...), what teachers are certified with what, level of transparency, security...
Of course, I'm a newbie at this too, we've been looking for our LO due in Dec!

To add to all of the above general cleanliness of the center was huge for us too.
Security. Is there a pass code to get in. What kind of security measures are in place for a stranger to pick up your LO?
What's included in the tuition. Food when they're older? Diapers? Wipes?
Is the staff knowledgeable in BM vs formula if you're planning to BF.
