Hi, I got a BFP on 12 & 13 DPO. 15 DPO had a fainter line, and today 16 DPO my period started (didn't POAS). Do I need to go the doctor to have them check anything or can I just let my period run its course?

I would call just as a precaution. I had 2 chemical pregnancies and 2 missed miscarriages. So I always call to be on the safe side.

I didn't call with my CP, but we weren't trying and weren't planning to try again right away anyways. Do what you're comfortable with. My period that cycle and the next were definitely "different" (tmi - heavier and clottier) but after that went back to normal.

I had the same thing in October. I didn't call, but I planned to if things didn't seem to be "normal". I had a normal cycle in October, BFN despite TTC right away, but got my sticky BFP the next month in November! Almost 32 weeks now. Good luck!

I'm so sorry for your loss. You can call your doctor if you'd like, I've seen some people on here whose doctors have run betas for a chemical. But if you would prefer not to, I think that's fine, unless you were to have any further symptoms or pain that is concerning. I haven't had a chemical myself but my understanding is that you might have a heavier than normal period and possibly an off cycle next as your body regulates. Good luck.

I would call. My doc wanted to test my beta until it went to zero, and then had me take a month off before we tried again.

With a chemical that early, your HCG is back down to zero around when you start bleeding. Your next cycle will probably be normal or close to it. It was for me that early. There is nothing doctor can do at this point. However, often doctors want to run a beta test to rule out ectopic, just in case. (With your fading lines it sounds like it's just a chemical, though.) so it's totally up to you if you want the blood test or not.

@Truth Bombs: they had you take a month off after a chemical? Interesting. My RE cleared me right away. After my miscarriage at 6+ weeks they told me to wait a month but not my chemical..

@travellingbee: Yup. She tends to be overly cautious. At the time it was a bummer to wait but I'm glad I did. I know if I got pregnant right away and something happened again I would have blamed myself, so it was best for me to wait from a mental health perspective.

@ksnow: I'm so sorry! I had almost the exact same experience. I booked an appt with the OB just in case, but he said no big deal and to TTC right away as long as we both felt comfortable. (I had a BFP on 12/13 dpo, BFN by 16 dpo and started AF later that day). HUGS! and in TTC!

@ksnow: I'm so sorry honey. the same thing happened to me two months ago. My tests never got darker and I started bleeding (a full, normal period) 2 days after my first bfp. I was still getting light positives as I was bleeding so I went in for betas. They were very low but were actually doubling at first- I got a pretty dark test maybe a week later, but then they started decreasing and I bled AGAIN so mine dragged on. I'd definitely keep testing and if they aren't bfn soon I'd go in for a blood test, just to see what's going on. We started trying again right away. Supposedly you are more fertile after a mc, so I have faith that you'll be back with a sticky baby really soon!! Sorry again for your loss

I'm sorry for your loss! Call your Dr. If you have a negative RH factor you'll need a rogam shot. Its also nice to jus be able to ask them your questions.
Take it easy and get lots of rest! ️

So sorry for your loss. You can call the dr if you want (or if this is a repeat (hope not!), but I think just letting your cycle roll should be okay.

I would call your doctor to see what their preference is. When I had my chemical I was told not to try right after and wait a cycle, but I know doctors can feel differently about this. I am sorry for your loss!

Thanks all. This was my first CP.
I ended up calling the nurses line (military insurance) to check in, and they wanted me to go in right away. They referred me to a urgent care center and unfortunately it was a waste of time...The Doctor was like "So what do you want to do, take one of our pregnancy tests? Maybe your tests were false positives." I told him the nurses line mentioned checking for tubal pregnancy and he's said "I don't know anything about that."
I am RH positive so don't have to worry about that.
I didn't bother asking him about TTC next cycle or waiting.
Anyway they did a urine test (looked like cheap walmart version) and it was negative so looks like my levels are zeroing out which hopefully indicates my cycle is returning to normal quickly...

@ksnow: The doctor didn't know anything about tubal pregnancies?! Whoa. What medical school did he go to? I'm sorry you are going through this, but it sounds like your body is doing what it needs to do and you should be back to normal soon. Lots of hugs!

A doctor not knowing anything about a tubal pregnancy sounds very alarming, especially if the nurse told you to ask about that!

@ksnow: So sorry for your loss. There isn't any reason to take a cycle off unless it would give you peace of mind. The next cycle might be a bit wonky (mine was) but, hopefully, that isn't the case for you.
