We went to the doctor (for the 3rd time since she was born 3 weeks ago) today for a weight check. She lost 4oz since our last visit. Seriously bummed. I took all of the suggestions from her doctor and spaced out the feedings a bit, didn't let her stay on for more than a half hour, etc. It didn't help. I swear, it seems like the girl is eating. She has lots of wet and soiled diapers and I can hear her swallowing noises.

Her pediatrician did blood work on her to make sure there was nothing wrong there and she's perfectly healthy. He did muscle and reflex tests, as well and saw no issues.

He put me on a feeding regimen for her of 10 minutes on one side, 10 minutes on the other side, 10 minutes on formula (or 2oz, whichever comes first). I asked about feeding her the pumped milk I have in the freezer but he wants her on formula to make sure she's getting the calories she needs.

If you were in this situation, what would you do to try to get back off of formula at some point? Do you think getting an appointment with a lactation consultant would be a good step? To make sure she is eating properly when she is breastfeeding? I'm not sure that will help considering she is obviously getting enough liquids, noted through the diapers.
