I plan to keep all of LO1's moderately-loved play clothes (especially leggings) for LO2 ... but she has quite a few shirts that are grimy from wearing to school. What do you do with stained clothes? Throw away? I wouldn't donate to Goodwill, as I don't think that's appropriate, but maybe there's another organization that could use them.

Also, a few things have holes, which I'd include in the purge.
These are mostly $3-$6 singles from Target/Old Navy, so I don't mind replacing for LO2.

I toss the really bad ones

Check for textile recycling bins. Our schools have them and they earn money per pound of clothes donated.

Really bad ones I cut up to use as scrap cloth for whatever. Some keep as DD2's rough clothes, some just toss.

Our local Goodwill turns the clothing into fibers to make gorgeous, handmade greeting cards. The sister company that produces the cards employs at-risk individuals and teaches them valuable job skills.
