We are having a naming ceremony at our house for LO in a few weeks. There will be about 50 people and the ceremony will take about 20 minutes. On the invitation, we said luncheon to follow. The ceremony will be from 12-12:30ish... should we serve brunch type food or lunch?

Since you said "luncheon" on the invite, I agree with @blackbird - I think lunch would be more appropriate. If you don't want to get it catered, I would probably make up salads a day ahead (chicken salad, tuna salad, seafood salad, a cold pesto salad, fruit salad) and get trays of sliced meats and cheeses and a selection of bread/rolls/etc.
