For those of you that choose cloth, does your child go to daycare? How did you find one that will deal with cloth?

Disposable...I know cloth diapers are cute and potentially more eco-friendly, but I just couldn't deal (and know my husband couldn't, either).

I did disposables for Mavi but thinking of maybe doing cloth for babydeux. I didn't think about if daycare does cloth. But seeing babydeux wouldnt go to daycare for 9 months, thats 9 months of savings i think. still undecided

I'm currently using the BumGenius Elemental AIO for cloth and Earth's Best for disposable. We switch on and off between the two.

I used disposable the first time around, next time I want to strictly use gdiapers. it's a nice line between either extreme.

I want to cloth diaper, and our kid(s) won't be going to daycare (holllllaaa for retired grandparents who can't wait to babysit!). Hubs has never changed a diaper in his life, so he said he didn't care which one, since he'll have to learn from the ground up, anyway.

We've been using G diapers for Little G since he was born and plan on using them again for baby girl. They really are a wonderful compromise.

our kiddo won't be doing daycare - depending on where we are living {we might be leasing our house out} & if I will need to work {lots of balls up in the air}, either a gf, my grandmother, or I will be watching baby v & we are all fine with the cloth

Doing disposable simply because I'm lazy and dont' do laundry until absolutely forced to.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sandsandmore - I'm the EXACT same way! I'd hate to do all that extra laundry! I can barely do my OWN laundry when I need to. Definitely going the disposable route.

I bought cloth diapers intending to use them. But I had such a terrible start to motherhood that disposable diapers were just easier for me. I might try to attempt to use the cloth diapers when I'm at home, at least, but we'll see.

I went disposables for my first and for baby 2 we did both, it was actually the daycare that provided the diaper service, I just needed to bring in diaper covers so I was game. So if you want to use cloth diapers there are daycares that do them and even prefer them. It was no extra cost to me whether I used their cloth diaper service or not.

I hope to use cloth but we'll probably use both depending on daycare.

Cloth at home during the day, disposables at night, while out for long periods of time and on vacation.

We are planning to use cloth, and I will just have to try to find a daycare that supports cloth when back to work time comes (luckily I have a long time to get around to that!)

we plan to use disposable for the first few weeks and then will transition to cloth.

I'm planning on making cloth diapers myself! Finally get some REAL use out of my sewing machine!
For the newborn stage I'm thinking prefolds and covers, then I want to make pockets for later on.
If I end up with a heavy wetter I might try fitteds with wool covers (that I would KNIT myself!) I feel like such an old fashioned/susie home-maker mom when I talk about it, lol.

We'd like to use cloth, but I'm going to wait to make the final decision until we figure out the daycare situation. I'm really hoping we can find one that will be ok with cloth!

We made sure any of the daycares we were considering were likely to accept cloth diapers. It helped to take some with us when touring to show the caregivers what a modern cloth diaper was since it isn't a common thing.

We'll use disposable until meconium is done and then cloth. We're buying BumGenius 4.0s.

I want to be the kind of person that does cloth... but I am just too lazy, honestly... so I am pretty sure we'll go disposable.

I would love to do cloth diapers but I know we are too lazy. So disposables it is.

Ha. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one thinking about all that extra laundry. Cloth are great in theory, I'll be doing disposables.

For those using disposables, any specific brands you prefer/like over others? Or do you buy whatever's on sale?

Wow, there are a lot of cloth diaperers here! That's awesome, you guys are going to be a great resource for me to ask questions...

@Amber1279: what exactly are g diapers?
i always thought i'd go disposable - cloth seems too much trouble. but after reading all the blogs about cloth diapering, it really sounds like something i'd like to try.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Amber1279: I've heard that people aren't a huge fan of gdiapers (via cloth diapering blogs, posts, etc). did you find that they leaked a lot? I'm trying to have a variety in my "stash" (so far, 3 BG3.0 and 3 GroVia).
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Coastinganon: I have the same q for you as I did for Amber - but it wouldn't let me reply to two people in the same post! I wanted you to get the email notification since it was a month ago since you last posted

We use Pampers exclusively. We have found that Huggies leak on our LO.

I definitely want to attempt cloth diapering, but will use disposables as back-up.

I love cloth. We bought a bunch of different kinds used from DiaperSwappers before baby E was born, and then sold back the kinds we didn't like once I'd had a chance to try them out. It was easy for us, and I'm glad to have a stash of fluff packed away to pull out for the next baby whenever that time comes. Hubs was on board from the very beginning, changed cloth diapers from day 1 in the hospital, and even did diaper laundry if I needed him to. We eventually also incorporated elimination communication (EC) into our routine by the time Eli was 6 months, and that helped lighten the laundry load.

We will be using disposable diapers. Most likely Pampers!
