We just use a basic no top litter box. It's in the basement though so it doesn't bother us with it's smell.

I use the clevercat top entry. We have two and i love them. I think they definitely cut down on litter tracking. Someone also told me about the pet fusion smart grip litter mat, which i plan on trying.

If you have the room, the booda dome with the steps cuts down on tracking but that thing is hugeeee.

Eta: i'm in a small apartment so somewhat "hidden" boxes are important to us.

we love it! it sits out in the open in our living room and no one ever notices that it's there!

We use this:

You roll it onto its top and the clumps get caught in the drawer. Then you just have to pull the drawer out and dump it in a trash bag.

That litter box is amazing! I'm actually thinking we need to buy a new one so I'm loving all of these suggestions.

I was just going to make a post about this! We have so much cat litter that gets carried out of the litterbox, and it's totally killing our vacuum (our litter boxes sit upstairs in our carpeted den.

@Leialou: what brand/kind is this??! Do you find it works well??

I love them! Basically no odor and the pellets don't track very much.

We have a litter robot downstairs, but I'm pretty sure only one of our two cats uses it. Upstairs we just have a normal covered litter box (don't remember the brand). However, I'm in the process of doing our office, and I'm going to use an Ikea kitchen cabinet (30" x 24") to hide the litter box (which I will use uncovered inside the cabinet).

@mrs. bird: I couldn't even imagine not having to worry about it! No more smelly boxes, or litter being traced around the house endlessly.......is that what heaven looks like?!
