I need a shoe that I can wear socks with in the winter. I have tall boots and I don't like booties. I want something that is going to be comfortable for walking around but also stylish. Help me find something, please. I go every winter wishing I had something other than workout sneakers and tall boots.

I wear Sperrys with socks, and Toms a lot in the winter. If it is really cold I will wear my hiking or riding boots.

I totally have the same problem every year. I don't want to wear tall boots all the time, even though I love my Hunters and brown riding boots! I will wear socks with moccasins and bootcut pants if in dire need, but it never really feels right.

Like @oliviaoblivia I was going to suggest El Naturalistas! I love them, and have a few pairs. They are all comfortable, and I even got my husband wearing them. You can walk forever in them, and the styles totally range so most people can find something they would like!

@mediagirl: I need some winter shoes, too! I also already have tall boots and don't know what else to get. But I need more professional shoes--NOT high heels (they have to be comfy) and nothing sneaker like.
So when you find good stuff, post here. In my quest for comfy professional shoes that are enclosed, I'm coming up short. Finding nothing that looks good with dresses/skirts AND pants.
eta: I've been looking at women's oxfords, but not sure about them. I've bought them before and never ended up wearing them...they never looked quite right with any outfit I put on.

@mediagirl: this wont work with skinnies but I wear these with longer jeans and my corduroys and LOVE them - so comfy - have had them for years!

When you say "with socks" do you mean tall socks/socks that cover the top of your foot? You don't want any skin exposed?
I ask because I wear Superga slip ons with the little ped socks that are super low cut. And yosi samra ballet flats are really chic and comfortable, can be worn with leggings or skinny jeans or work slacks/skirts. Super super versatile. I also wear the little ped socks with those.
I also have a pair of low moto boots, which I think are different than booties.

Dansko clogs? I work in medicine where they are pretty much the gold standard of comfortable and professional footwear. Some styles are actually pretty cute!

Okay, they are a bootie (but not a typical bootie) but these are hands down the most comfortable shoe I own, dressy enough for work, I also wear all weekend.

@mediagirl: I have the white and gold new balance sneakers from j crew and they are definitely a step up from a regular sneaker. I love them.
And that brand I told you about, superga, they make really cool leather sneakers and high-tops. -
@Andrea: yes! Those are exactly what I have. They are Rag & Bone and I got them last year from shopbop.
I waffled over them forever. They are the most expensive shoe I've ever bought (aside from my wedding shoes) but they are AMAZING. Comfy, versatile, and I think will be stylish for many years. -

What about a quilted sneaker (vans-type)? They make regular slip-on versions, or a higher one (maybe too bootie like...but would be warmer!) Just examples below...lots of other options on Zappos, I'm sure.

I went and looked at the Born website after seeing your shoes and @Alba4's post. I may try a few of those and see what I like. I think I like the look of the chunky low boots, I may have to try a pair of those on (in brown).
