I experienced contractions for over 12 hours before I got to the 5-1-1 stage...And two days prior to all that I had lost my mucus plug. But my water was broken for me at the hospital.

All. I had consistent contraction for a little over a day before having my "show" & then another 12ish hours to get into active labor, my water broke on its own when I pushed P out.

Nada.
None.
Zip.
I was sound asleep through some of it I assume. I just woke up to a *jult* of a contraction in the AM. They were pretty close from right then (sometimes 5 min apart, sometimes more, but coming and not slowing down ever).
As dh loaded the car, I got the diarrhea people speak of, but I was already in labor.
The minute we got to the hospital, I had to pee, which is when I got lost my mucus plug and had the bloody show, again, already in labor.
And the doctor had to manually break my water at 6cm-ish.
From 1st contraction to bay was 8h.

I never hit the standard 5-1-1 stage, I had bloody show/mucous plug, then my water broke. We waited a couple hours, then went to the hospital to get checked- once I got into the car though, contractions went from 0-60, and I was at a 5-6 when we got there.

My water broke on my own about a week after I lost my mucus plug. My contractions were immediately 2ish minutes apart so I definitely never had the 5-1-1 stage!

With DS, water broke in the AM. Went to my midwife, they tested, said yep that's your water broken. No contractions. Had to be induced 24 hours later with pitocin. Only got contractions that were eratic on the pitocin. From start of pitocin drip to birth of my son, it was approx. 8 hours.
With DD, had bloody show in the AM. Contractions started soon after. Went to the hospital, contractions were timed and everythig but midwife on call said it could be stomach bug (long story, she was an absolute idiot) - sent me home. Labored the rest of the day at home but my contractions were irregular. Would get to 5 minutes apart for 30 minutes than lengthened again. Worse in itensity. Finally couldn't stand the contractions anymore at about 10:30. Went to the hospital, got to the hospital, water broke as I stood up from the car. Got checked in through the ER, had her about 22 minutes later. Wasn't even fully checked in, fully unclothed, or fully dialated yet.
