When I read this it brought tears to my eyes. With my last C-section, which was my third, I was so scared to go into that OR. I don't know why, I knew exactly what was going to happen, but I was full of terror.

This brought tears to my eyes as well. When the part about being left alone came up, I got emotional. I remember DH being ushered out of the room and I was all alone for a good while until we got to the OR. And even that took a while before they brought him in. Also wondering when I would be able to hold my baby. It all came rushing back at that point.

Oh being alone! The before surgery cold and alone! And she doesn't mention the post surgery. Both times I sent DH to be with our babies. I needed him to be with them, to watch over them, to know what was happening. So I was again, alone.

@MamaG: Yes! I was so upset that my husband wasn't with me during prep I was crying and inadvertently shaking, so they had to lightly sedate me. So upsetting.
And after - If you are alone because your husband is with your baby(ies), you are also without your baby! I remember being in recovery and there were 2-3 other moms who just had c sections. They were with their partners and new babies and I was just alone crying since mine went straight to the nicu. Just remembering that feeling now makes my throat clench with emotion.

I thought this was really good. I had an unplanned c section and it was so scary and recovery was awful. I'm so grateful for my healthy baby but it's a really scary thing and I don't think everyone understands how serious it is!

I loved this. My fiancé posted it to my wall. I was fortunate that my mom came to the hospital to sit with me post c section cause we knew our son would go straight to the NICU and I wanted my fiancé to go with him. He was a 34 weeker. I'm 17 days away from my second c section and will deliver at 35+6. This time my mom will be with our son so if baby goes to the NICU I'll be alone in the recovery room getting pushed on every 15 minutes! Eek. I'm hoping to hold her right away this time. Girls tend to do better and hopefully the 2 extra weeks will make a difference .

So glad to see this here! I know the author, Monet! She has dedicated her life to being a birth photographer and doula and is growing her business in Colorado. I hope that this going viral will help her do just that!

@MamaG: The being alone was terrifying. I was so out of it, on a lot of medication because of so many things that had gone wrong, and terrified of my baby's heart not beating the way it should be. All without my husband, as I lay shivering on the table.
@Kemma: Thank you so much for sharing. People make me feel like a cop-out for having had a c-section. I think my son and I both being alive and healthy should prove how necessary it was!
