There are so many different options, and so many different ways to go about solids. What was your baby's first food?
Our daughter had her first food sometime around her 5th month: avocado.

Avocado. We waited until after 6 months based on our pediatrician's recommendation. I think DD was ready around 5.5 months though.

Rice cereal, at 5 months...I immediately switched him to oatmeal after I did some reading.

Rice cereal at 4.5 months at our ped's insistence. Once we could move on we did. He still gets oatmeal daily though.

Banana. I did the thing where you cut off a strip of the peel and let the rest remain on as a handle. She held it and gummed onto the fruit on the top. Then made lots of confused and alarmed faces.

I think it was oatmeal cereal for DS, followed closely by carrots (on purpose) and a danish he grabbed from me (by accident).
DD first tried a dried apricot my mom was holding... she was trying so hard to vacuum it up, but it wasn't working because she didn't have any teeth So we knew it's definitely time for solids!

Definitely skipping it this time around
Thinking avocado for him

Butternut squash or sweet potatoes. I can't remember! I know it was orange.

6 months, tried pureed sweet potato but she just gagged and hated it. Ended up doing rice cereal (which I hadn't planned on). Next baby I will probably skip and just wait longer if baby isn't into it. My LO took a long time to get into solids and she clearly wasn't ready at 6 months.

probably rice cereal. Back then I, as a new mom, was so paranoid about giving food to the baby and I stick with the "safest" thing that are in most books and blogs... but thinking back I think DS would have been fine with bananas and such. My friend gave her DS some cake at our mini home gathering as her DS's first food, and was applauded by her pediatrician

at 5 months we tried oatmeal (vile and he hated it) and then shortly after avocado and banana. that went much better.

With baby 2, sweet potatoes at a little over 5 months. We did a little classic baby led weaning (bananas and avocados with the outer peel on), but she barely ate through 7 months. Then all of a sudden she started eating EVERYTHING, but only on her own.

I think it was steak. She was either exactly 6 months or a couple days off.

I think it was either squash or avocado, right around 6 months. She wasn't very interested though, and didn't really start showing any interest until around 8 months.

Lo was 6mos at Thanksgiving, so her 1st food was sweet potato. She wasn't sure about them at first, but after a few tries, liked them pretty well.
