What were your "must-haves" in your hospital bag?

Maybe I'm having a brain fart, but I can't for the life of me remember what I really needed when I was at the hospital with DD #1. I remember we totally overpacked (DH had to take two trips to the car). I also remember she didn't fit in any of the NB clothes we brought so she left the hospital in a preemie hospital t-shirt and weird sweats.

I'm packing my bag for this baby and all I have is:
Nursing tank
Nursing bra
Sweats
Baby blanket
2 baby hats (1 cotton and 1 wool blend, depending on weather)
2 NB sleepers
2 NB onesies
Warm baby booties
Shampoo for DH

Ummmm....that seems like nothing. What the heck am I missing?

Cash for DH for the vending machine
Phone Charges
Ipad
Hair dryer (lord it felt so good to wash my hair the next morning)

Ponytail holders. I had long hair when I delivered and I wanted my hair up. Also, maybe a sweatshirt or sweater for others if they get cold. I was really hot after I delivered and my poor husband was freezing.

@Smurfette: darn, I wish we had extra chargers. I feel like that will be an easy thing to forget on D day!!!

Food! I wish I brought snacks for both me and DH.

My hospital provides almost everything for baby, but if you want to use disposable wipes you have to bring them.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: We kept a last minute list on the suitcase, so we wouldn't forget anything. It worked cause we almost forgot the camera!

Pillows and snacks were my must haves. I also brought my own toiletries for when I showered. Made me feel more like myself!

I would only add my pillow, shampoo, and chap stick. I had to have chap stick.

I loved having a robe to throw on when visitors came. I also brought a baby book for footprints, etc.

Chapstick

Nipple cream, nail file for baby, mittens so baby doesn't scratch herself, pads?, camera!

I assume you have toiletries for you?

Nursing tank and loose yoga pants to wear home.
Nb and 0-3 outfits (she for into nb but nice to have both)
Big cup with straw for water
Chap stick!
Flip flops for walking around and showering
Hair ties and hair band
Toiletries- my hospital only gave soap, so it was nice to have my preferred shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, tooth brush and paste.
Face wipes / makeup remover wipes
Full size towel from home. Hospital ones were tiny and scratchy.

Extension cord for chargers! So helpful to have the phone charging in my bed.

I think that's everything I actually used. I totally overpacked.

i brought so, so much stuff and hardly needed any of it. the most important things were comfy clothes for me and the baby to go home in, which are both on your list. a camera i guess? i didn't even use that! my husband took pictures with his phone. i think i packed snacks, but didn't eat them.

Phone/charger, camera, flip flops, toothbrush/toothpaste, snacks, and a pin or headband for my hair. I ended up being very minimalist, loved the hospital gowns, and live 1.5 miles from the hospital so I knew I could send my husband or mom to fetch anything I'd need!

One thing I regret its not packing a slightly more special going home outfit for my baby-he ended up going home in a sleep sack over a onesie! =/

I don't think I used a thing, haha. Except, I suppose:

Sweater
Sweats
Ipad
Makeup/toiletries/toothbrush
Hat
Powerbars
Eyemask (sleep when you can!)
Going home outfit
Maternity jeans

Wish I had packed:
nursing tanks/bras

Didn't use:
Clothes - they kept the hospital warm so the one time I dressed him he was overheated. He just stayed in their blanket the whole time.
Regular tank tops - Too engorged to get my boobs out!
Nursing pads
Underwear
Magazines
Money (I don't think DH ate for two days)
Pillows
Socks
DH's swimsuit for the tub

@lamariniere: I will bring a tooth brush/paste and facial cleansing wipes, but I think that's it. I brought makeup last time, but I was so sore and exhausted I wasn't even remotely interested in making myself look decent! If I can shower I will use DH' shampoo.

Things I was glad to have with me:

- Camera, phone & chargers
- Nice smelling body wash and shampoo/conditioner
- Shower flip flops
- Boppy
- Nursing tanks
- Pajamas (button-up style)
- Chapstick
- Snacks & coconut water
- Extra folding bag
- A&A blankets

DD wouldn't sleep at night, so forget anything to read or relax.

My toiletry bag (makeup), blow dryer, round brush and straightener were major for me! As well, nice nursing friendly PJ's (I only wore the hospital gown for about 8 hours post c-section, then I was in my own clothes)

@Rainbow Sprinkles: yeah, that's what I meant by toiletries: toothbrush, skin care items, contacts if you wear them, stuff like that. Makeup is totally not on my radar for childbirth

Am I the only one who was in so much pain they couldn't take a shower? The day we left the hospital, I was in so much pain I cried every time I moved. Forget showering or trying to blow dry my hair!

Chap stick, socks, and hair bands. And a headband...I didn't bring one and I desperately wished I had...my bangs were just short enough to keep falling out of the bun and long enough to annoy me

@Rainbow Sprinkles: awww well maybe this time will be different! I would bring stuff for a shower just in case.

I loved having my own towel and pillows from home. What about a change of clothes and sweater/jacket for DH? camera, chargers, hair brush, hair ties, snacks
