In a few weeks here I will be on the hunt for a winter coat, boots, hat/gloves etc for my preschooler. She outgrew just about everything from last winter. She will only wear the coat outside to play, so I don't want to spend too much on that but I also want her to keep warm out on the playground. Luckily my 2.5 year old can wear her hand me downs, so I just need one set of each item!
What winter gear will you be buying/are you eyeing for your LO?

We've had good luck buying winter coats from Burlington, in the $20-$25 range, the last two years. They've been really warm, and since he'll only wear them for one season, I don't want to spend a lot.

This year, nothing, everything we have still fits. I bought a coat ahead at a clearance sale two years ago, and we'll be using that this year.

I'm hoping last year's will fit until Christmas, and then someone wants to buy one for her! That's how we did it for the last two years and t worked out well. She has a Gap puffy coat. Will probably need to get her better gloves though.

I think her light weight fleece, from Costco, will fit her again this year. I got a puffy jacket from GAP on super clearance last winter for this winter. I think she will need a pair of gloves since her other pair are now her mittens for when she is cooking.

We got 2-3 years of use out of Columbia ski coat & snowpants -- we got both at the Outlet for like $25 each. We never even ended up cutting the threads on their "grow with me" seams, but now DD2 will get at least the snowpants (they are 2T, so a little big) and maybe the jacket (it is 3T) if it's not super huge. They have both held up really well!

The puffy coats we got on clearance from GAP still fit both boys. We will need new hats and gloves though, they seem to get so much wear and tear.

I'm hoping the Patagonia puff coat I got her last year will fit at least until it gets actually cold here (maybe December) and then I will probably jump on the sales and get her one or two real winter coats. We had two from last year (one wool, one more like a ski jacket) and I think one or both of those will be too small when winter arrives. Will probably try to get one from LLBean or Lands End.

I just tried LO1's old winter coat on her and it still seems to fit. She's 3 and it's an 18 months coat and this will be her 3rd winter in it, haha. It was a clearance hot-pink 3-in-1 mess of a coat from Target. But it's held up well!
OR, I might pass down that coat to LO2 (who is already 24 lbs) and get LO1 a new one.

Possibly a winter coat if she outgrew hers, and snow bib/pants. She was only 1 last winter and didn't play extensively in the snow. And boots since her feet grew like 2 sizes since last winter.

We got her one coat. She runs hot and it doesn't get that cold here so we probably won't need to get a hat or gloves.

I've got mostly everything already - I did lots of year end purchases and have hand me downs from DD1 - both have fleeces from Target, a Patagonia down sweater, long puffer parkas from Gap, and a "play" coat that they'll wear with snowpants (and I don't mind getting dirty). Baby has hand me downs - a Patagonia fleece, a North Face puffer, and buntings of various warmths/sizes from Gap, Carters, Old Navy, etc..
DD1 needs snow pants - not sure what I'll buy, I need to start looking. Ideally something to match her snow/outdoor play coat, since that still fits.

Coats from last year still fit (I bought big hoping to get 2 winters out of them). I bought a second hand snow suit for DD for this year and she still needs new winter boots. DS's boots and snow pants still fit. I think all the hats, gloves and scarves are still ok too.

I just bought a thin fleece jacket for LO1, in hopes of the weather cooling down soon (it's not, btw). He still fits into his jacket from last year, and if he outgrows it, I have another jacket in the next size up. LO2 is still rocking his hand me down Patagonia jacket, and it will be his third winter wearing it. Haha. I need to buy him mittens.

I bought a North Face fleece coat and a lined Hello Kitty raincoat off of the classifieds in the next size earlier this year. All she needs are new boots.
DD2 will wear her sister's hand-me-down fleece coat (with bunny ears!) and we have a few fleece sleep suits if it's really cold that we can button over her clothes.

Kids have outer wear from last year that will fit this winter. I bought DD and myself matching ugg Bailey bow boots and DS will get a pair of emu Australia boots.
They each have rain boots from last year that still fit.

It doesn't get that cold here, so we don't need a lot of winter gear. I did have to buy her a raincoat and boots to leave at daycare. I splurged as a present to her for transitioning so well to her new "school" and got her the Hatley strawberry print jacket and boots. I also got her this puffy coat at Gap during a recent sale http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=61836&vid=1&pid=233367002. Both are big on her so we shouldn't have to buy any coats for her for at least another year unless we have an abnormally cold winter.

We got a great parka from lands end last year and it will fit him again this year. It's so warm. He still has the hat and mittens I bought with it too.
Not sure about boots, I'll have him try them on to see if they still fit

Like @matador84, I got a North Face jacket from the Nordstrom sale this year. This is DD's second North Face jacket. Her first one somehow lasted from 18 months to 3 years (!) and we were happy with how it held up. I also found a Columbia fleece at Marshall's to replace her old Columbia fleece.
Her hat and mittens from last year are still good. I have to check out her snowpants and boots to see if they still fit. I'm hoping to get another season out of them.
