Sorry... I voted not to let him go... I am a bad wife!! haha. Wagon Sr. has willingly given up boarding but I promised him we'd start going on yearly trips as a family starting this coming winter, since Wagon Jr. will be old enough to start learning. I'll stay in the cabin with LMW. Come with!!!!

I would let him go, I think-- but I say this as someone who doesn't even have one babe yet, much less two! I know I want both of us to still be able to do the things we love and that make us happy, even if you can do them less frequently. But then, when he gets back, he should definitely take both kids for a day so you can do what makes YOU happy, like a spa day or whatever you prefer.
I also agree it's a great time to have someone come over and help out or just distract you!

I'd make him stay. Call me a bad wife.... but why does he get to go off and have fun snow boarding while you are at home with two kids by yourself? Snowboarding isn't going to go away, it will be there next year when the kids are older and easier to take care of.

I don't know... being a SAHM I feel like DH already gets so many more breaks than I do. He gets breaks to go to the bathroom, to eat breakfast, to eat lunch, etc every day. The least DH can do is help on nights and weekends so I can pee in peace occasionally.

I voted let him go boardin but honestly if I were in your shoes I probably would say no. Because I hate when Dh has to travel and I'm by myself with the baby, its so stressful

I usually let my husband go when he asks. He doesn't ask often so I try to make things work. I know If I Was smart enough to ask he would let me go do things I just never ask. Make plans for yourself like play dates or meet ups with other people so you aren't alone all the time. That's when my craziness sets in, if I can't have any grown up time for several days.

I don't have kids yet, so that might sway my decision until I know what it's like... but I would let him go. But like others said, I would use it as a bargaining chip, and/or see if a friend or family member can come spend some time with you and the LO and stay the night to help out and have a little "girls night" or something after the LO goes to bed.

@MsLipGloss: I think it's a mommy thing. It's just assumed we will do things because we're the mommy.

You're the mommy, you will feed and get LO's meal ready while I sit here and eat my meal. You're the mommy, you can handle watching our 65 lb dog and toddler at this restaurant alone while I run to the store. Etc. etc. etc.

But if we're at a restaurant with the whole family including the pup and I go inside I always have to take LO. He can't be left with both of them. How is that fair?

I say let him go, and then have him take the kids a day next weekend and you go have some me time.

I think you are a saint for even considering letting him go. And I only have one LO.

DH and I both ski (he also snowboards). I know how easy it is to get hurt on the slopes, even when you're an expert. A family ski outing is way different from a solo guy away from the family.

You're so sweet to let your husband go. With your LO2 so young, I think would've preferred that he come back early. But since he'll be away anyway - what's another day, right? It's awesome that you're already able handle 2 kids all by yourself. In the beginning, we hired someone to help with dinner and bedtime when my husband is away. My younger one is now much older so I don't need the extra help anymore.
Hope you get some nice pampering when he returns the favor!

I would also say yes. DH let me go on a girls trip to Chicago so I owe him a trip back. I would totally get some babysitting help for the weekend, though, so it wouldn't be that bad.

But even if you asked him to say, it isn't about being a "bad wife"! I voted "hellz no!" (in my mind). Taking care of 2 is HARD WORK and if you had asked him to stay, you shouldn't feel guilty about that!

Yeah, I say let him go, but make sure that you get a break in return. I ok'd my husband going on a business trip to florida when my daughter was 9 months old. It ended up being 8 days, and I was so furious by the end of it. Never. Again.
