Condoms.
ETA: Sorry, that was rude of me, couldn't help it! In reality I'd do a membership like Mrs. Bee suggested, or maybe a gift card to a nice restaurant or something so the parents can eventually have a date night.

A gift card? I'm just thinking of all the bills they are probably paying, wow!

@FutureMrsMcK: lol!!!
@T-Mom: ha seriously! I was thinking a gift card to buy buy baby or something but they got us a nice personalize gift...

@FutureMrsMcK: That was my first thought but I was too chicken "Birth control" just popped right into my head.

Gift card to a store like Target so they can get necessities, or get them diapers and wipes. You can never have too many of those.

hmmm maybe something that can keep the older kids occupied? a family zoo membership or museum pass? they can be pretty inexpensive!
squash / 13764 posts
@Mrs. Bee: hm I love that idea...they live in the jersey shore so I'd need to do some research...

One of my co-workers sent us a packaged honey baked ham meal. It was such a nice treat and the leftovers carried us through for days!

@FutureMrsMcK: I am NOT kidding that was my first thought when I read the title!!

@Bao: I agree but since they got us something nice I feel like diapers wouldn't be enough...@aprk: we're not really close enough to send over food...
squash / 13764 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: like I said, were not close enough to bring over food and I feel like food is also kind of a personal thing? Like I would only bring a meal to someone I knew well...but maybe ordering a gift basket thing would work actually!

@hilsy85: our children's museum membership was like $75/year. it paid for itself in 2 trips!
squash / 13764 posts
@Mrs. Bee: I feel like they might have something like that already though...not sure how to find out what they have for the older kids in terms of memberships. I'll have to ask dh!

Snarky thoughts aside: Dipers and wipes are a never-ending need. Probably a Target or BRU GC.
ETA: Just read the comments. Maybe a personalized blanket or something for the baby he can use when he gets older? No doubt that kid will wear and use a ton of hand-me-downs, so maybe something with his/her name on it would be nice when he/she gets a little older that it was "just theirs alone". i.e. anything from PBK can be personalized. If it were a girl, we love the personalized jewelry box K got. She will enjoy that as she gets older!

I think a gift card is a nice idea - to a place like Target.
Or, an outfit for the new baby. IDK, I feel like it's always nice for the new baby to have their own new outfit.
New diaper bag for mom stocked with supplies...
A personalized stool or chair with the baby's name on it (damhurst toys)?

@hilsy85: Lots of diapers? haha really though, when you have that many kids and money is probably tight diapers are amazing.

@shopaholic: ha! Trust me I've said all the snarky things they are the nicest ppl tho and can definitely afford all their kids/live very comfortably so at least they're not struggling yet continuing to reproduce!

@MsLipGloss: we are the same person. Xanax was my first thought too!!

Don't forget, by #6, things may have worn out. I know by the time my youngest sister was born (#5), my parents had to buy new blankets, lovely, etc. So, I agree with the gift card, or a basket of some sort. But something to occupy the older ones is a good idea, too!

@winniebee: I was also thinking an outfit, since I feel like he'll probably get a lot of hand me downs.

I agree with a gift card, I'm sure with their 6th child they are not expecting much anyways.

@hilsy85: wow! ok - my edit is still wrong. I see it was a boy. But along the same lines, maybe a personalized lunch tote bag or towel? You get the gist!

Seriously though I would probably get a really nice monogrammed outfit so the new little one has something special just for him.

@shopaholic: aw maybe one of the skip hop book bags actually...you just reminded me of them

@hilsy85: You order honeybaked ham from home and it gets delivered. It's sort of like a gift basket. You send a whole ham, some sides, some dessert, some fruits. It's really nice. A step up from a meal, really.

@MamaMoose: @MsLipGloss: LOL Xanax was what first crossed my mind as well.... we are terrible
I think the g/c idea is great. Maybe to a restaurant they like so they can get take out? Or a basket with a g/c and some simple goodies, like an outfit

Ooooo I like @shopaholic: suggestion! We got a monogrammed beach towel for M and it was one of our favorite gifts! Perfect for a family that lives down the shore!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@hilsy85: We actually received a monogrammed tote from LLBean for T and I have used it SO much. Anytime we go away for the night or out for an extended day, that's his bad. I love it.
