My husband is a volunteer board member of a local credit union/bank. We are going to a "volunteer appreciation dinner dance" next weekend. It's held at a local country club. What should I wear to that kind of thing??? I have no idea how formal/informal it is.
ETA: I deleted the photos; I asked DH and he thought I needed to go dressier. Ack... I might have to go buy something.

I think the purple one could work. I would pair it with nicer accessories and shoes and more of an updo to dress it up!
But if you are in doubt, I'd go more cocktail dress.

I agree, I like the plum one. If you pair it with a statement necklace it could look really dressy!

@MrsKoala: Cocktail is probably safer, isn't it? The only thing that I hate about cocktail is that it's still cold out, and I'd need to wear something with it... I never know what to wear. Cardigans dress it down so much and seem frumpy, but I feel like wraps are annoying!

@78h2o: Probably. It's better to be overdressed than underdressed. I feel your pain in terms of what to wear over it. I'd go with a cardigan over a wrap personally since I find it hard to keep a wrap on.

@78h2o: If you feel like you need something dressier than what you already own, I strongly suggest Rent the Runway. They have tons of fancy dresses, with a low rental fee, and you get the dress plus a back-up size for 4 days. They UPS it to you and then you stick it back in the pre-addressed back and send it back via UPS. It's so easy and such a lifesaver!
