I didn't know much about tv until I got engaged and moved to New York because I pretty much only watched reruns late at night. I didn't know there were seasons for television and that there were no new episodes during the summer. I didn't even start watching sex and the city until it was off the air.
Not a very interesting random fact, but just one that came to mind as I browsed Hulu and there is nothing new since shows don't broadcast new episodes over the holidays!

Not sure why this came to my mind but when I was 12 I got Bell's Palsy (a temporary paralysis of the face) and half of my face couldn't move! I didn't go to a dr until a few weeks after it started (I guess my mom didn't notice or think it was serious?) until a friend's sister in med school urged me to go. I'm glad I did because it can take months to go away on its own! I took prednisone and it went away in about a week. Phew!

I didn't know how to dive until I was 16 and on the swim team in high school. My parents tried to teach me many times before that but I was too scared. My swim coach had to spend a whole practice trying to teach me how to dive before our first meet! How embarrassing..

@Boopers: I got that after a horrid illness & it took over a year to improve! I also developed some other complications from my illness and now whenever I'm tired the right side of my face droops, it's awful 
Hmmm. Random facts.... I have never eaten a poptart, or most sugary breakfast cereals, or hot pockets, or a lot of those convenience foods. My mom never bought them, so I never had them & figure why start now?! Also I lied to graduate from high school- I went to a community college to take classes my senior year and when I filled out my papers to graduate from the high school, I listed cultural anthropology as a science... And they didn't question it

I used to be a karate and jiu jitsu instructor. I don't do it anymore because of the injury risk and my current career. I still privately train to upkeep my skills but I am no longer involved in formal classes.
Now I play hockey to burn calories instead. Surprisingly, it is much safer.

I got paid to work as a research assistant (I was doing lit reviews and database searches) for a popular book about orgasams. I'm recongnized in the credits. Needless to say, this one isn't on my résumé.

By the time I was 21 I had wrecked 5 cars, you would think my parents would have sent me to driver's ed again or taken my vechicle away but they just get buying me a new one (granted each one was worse than the first!) Thank goodness my driving has improved 100x in the last 6 years!

As far as I know I'm the only person with my name. There have been 7 others in the US w/ the traditional dictionary spelling in the last 100 years, but none with my spelling.

@NerdBee: haha me too. I had to learn how to use a microwave at fifteen! My friends asked me how I did things like heat up soup... Uh, on the stovetop?
Random fact about me - after burning myself when I was three I was terrified of hot things for six years! I would get my younger sister to put things in the oven when we baking and I'd even have lukewarm showers. I'm not sure what got me over that mental barrier!

@Boogs: @Arden: For me, the secret was having a May birthday. My birthday was right before graduation, so I still took 4 semesters to get my MA, but turned 22 pretty much the next day, so it was a standard 2 year degree, but it sounds pretty impressive this way!
