For a high school graduation of a cousin's son?
His mom is throwing him a party at a restaurant.
I'm thinking $50.
What's the going rate in your area for this scenario?

Wow, you guys are nice. We usually do 15-20 depending on the person. Usually they are 1st-2nd cousins, and this year we have 5 to go too!

@mrsjyw: my thoughts exactly. We're not very close to this cousin at all! I'm pretty surprised we're invited, TBH!

I don't think I've had to gift anyone for graduation, but the going rate is probably $50 at least.

@hotchildinthecity: @snowjewelz: LOL DH is the second youngest cousin on both his dad and mom's side. So there will be quite a few graduations coming up!
You just reminded me my niece and nephews are graduating from elementary this year!

@locavore_mama: Wait so you gotta gift something for every kind of graduation?!

@snowjewelz: haha I don't think so. I just want to because I'm that crazy goo jie that spoils them.

@locavore_mama: I hope my sister is like you for my kids, muahaha. I'm the oldest so I don't have experience with this!

My 1st cousin is graduating with his bachelor's so I'm gifting him $100. My friend who I consider as a younger brother is graduating from medical school and I'm gifting him $200.
For someone not close to me, I think $50 is good!

I think $50 is a good amount - if it was a niece or nephew I would do $100

I'm doing about $50 for my cousin's daughter graduation present. I say -ish because I'm putting quarters in a change jar for "laundry" money and it may not be exact.

I haven't given a high school graduation gift, but I do $100 for college.

$50 for high school, between $50-100 for college (depending on how close we are, other factors), and $100 for med/law/professional degrees.

we have a very small family on both sides so we'd probably spend more. $100+

Random family friends (like kids from Church and whatnot) get $20, family gets $50 so far (high school graduation). I have yet to be in the position to gift family for college graduation, so I'm not sure where we'll be with that one... probably $50 for my last 3 cousins.
I have a LONG time until nieces and nephews start graduating anything though! I hope to gift closer to $100 for those.

I'm wondering what to send besides a card for my cousin's college graduation...she's the only one younger than me and I don't remember her parents ever acknowledging any of my graduations but my dad is making me send a card. Plus her mom sent me a letter guilting me, saying my cousin went to visit my cousins whom none of the rest of us are talking to. (I'm inclined to send nothing but the card.)

@spaniellove: relationships with her parents aside. Are you close to her? If not close I might still drop $20 because you don't really want to. If close, I would probably send closer to $50-100.

@locavore_mama: We've never had a relationship...I left for college when she was a toddler.
