Here in TN it was moved up to August 31st for 2013, and now August 15th for 2014 (where they say it will stay for a long time). My LO is a late Nov birthday so she'll be one of the older ones in her class which I'm happy about.

dec 31. if it were sept 1 like most areas, both charlie and olive would have been after the cut off.
i don't mind the late cut-off though. 2 less years of childcare to pay for us.

I'm not sure about this year but I know once A starts the cutoff will be September 1st, and she has an August 29th birthday.

Our district goes by calendar year, so you have to be 5 by December of the year you enter Kindy.
My son's a December birthday and I am undecided about how we will handle it. He's going to a private preschool with a great kindergarten program, so depending on how the year goes, we will make a decision next winter.

September 1. M will be one of the younger ones in her class (her birthday is a month before the cutoff).

12/31; I'm due in Dec so my kid will be one of the youngest!

Where I grew up it was Sept 1st and I'm a July baby so I was always one of the youngest. I was never developmentally behind or anything but it was always a pain in the butt to be the last of my friends to be able to do things (get my license, turn 21, etc) so that's why I'm happy M will be one of the older ones. But in the grand scheme of things I really don't think it makes a difference.

Dec. 31.
I'm due Jan.1 with #2.
LO1 was born Jan.8.
Our kids will be the oldest in class. and we'll pay for a lot of extra daycare.

@oliviaoblivia: I feel you! I am paying for a full extra year of DCP and then once K starts its only half day so he will be at DCP the rest of the time and its only like $200 less than being FT

@lawbee11: But I desperately want to avoid Christmas. We're between a rock and a holiday!

August 1, and it makes me mad. LO will be almost six when she enters Kindergarten.

Sept 1... Double daycare for one more school year, OUCH!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
they're gradually moving it up.
Nov 1 for 2013-14
Oct 1 for 2014-15
Sept 1 for 2015-16
But ultimately it's up to the parents. If your child doesn't meet the deadline, you can apply for a waiver as long as your child has a birthday before Dec 1.

@mrsjyw: i was going to say this!
Our state (MI) is slowly masking it's way to a more national cut-off date.
By the time E goes to kindergarten, I think it'll be sept 1.

@mrsjyw: In TN you can only test in if your bday is before Sept 30th

December 1! For now both kids are safe.
@CupQuakeWalk: how do you know they're doing this?

@Smurfette: haha I had to look it up on my district website. And it wasn't easy!

August 31.
When I was growing up it was also August 31, but I was a Sept 24th baby, and my mom managed to get me in anyway - I was always the baby in my classes. Is that still an option? So far it doesn't look like I'll to worry about that (mid Jan and mid August babies)

September 1.
I was a mid-September baby and was the oldest in my class.
My child will be in the middle and I'm fine with that. He has a February birthday.

@locavore_mama: I figure her bday is Mar so it doesn't really matter.

@mrsjyw: @CupQuakeWalk: same!
It used to be December 1st, but gets earlier with each year. By the time N goes, the cut off will be Sept 1st. Doesn't matter for us though since the kids have Jan and Feb bdays.

Ours is August 31 and LO's birthday is mid-Nov, so he'll be one of the oldest. It used to be Oct 15 and my birthday is in September, so I was one of the very youngest.

Sept 1. LO will be on the younger side and #2 will be one of the oldest.

sep 1...
We were planning to send my early sep DS on time (meaning to kinder when he just turned 6) but now I'm rethinking it.. That would mean he would be four grade years apart from my DD even though they are exactly three years apart in age (late august baby). This stuff hurts my brain!

We have 4K which I am very excited about. I don't know the cutoff date but her birthday is in June so it is a non issue.

August 31. And the waiver cut off is October 31. My LO is a November baby so she'll be one of the oldest. We may send her to private school if she's clearly ready for school early. She's big for her age too so physical size would not be an issue
