I'm struggling whether to test before AF or wait... what do you prefer seeing... they both stink

A BFN. I don't know why... seeing the stark white feels like such a slap!

You know my feelings on this already, but I like to know what's coming. The false hope while I wait for AF is excruciating. I'd rather test early and often.

BFN was worse for me. I always felt like the stark white was shouting a mocking "HAHA NOT PREGNANT, LOLZ!"

Because then I not only waste the test, but drive myself crazier thinking its maybe too early to test, so stay hopeful.

I seem to be the odd one out, but I preferred getting BFN to waiting and getting AF. I just kept telling myself that it was too early, or my urine was too diluted, or maybe there's a tiny bit of a line, or look, here's some person on the internet that got a BFP 3 days after her period was due, etc. Obviously I had a POAS problem...

I hate bfn's, but less so with wondfos. Like @twodoghouse, I could always convince myself there was still hope. Bfn's on frer's were awful. I did that once and never bought them again.

I much preferred seeing AF than a BFN. I always waited for AF before testing.

I think I answered the poll wrong. I thought AF was worse than BFN because I always held out the delusional hope that it was too soon to test and that my BFP would arrive the next day. The only month that I swore I wouldn't test at all and just wait til AF was the time I got my bfp, go figure.

I only had the pleasure of testing once. Usually AF bums me out, but AF coming late and seeing
was way worse. Next time I am going to wait at 4-5 days after AF expected arrival.

Yeah, that white space where you want so badly to see a line is the worst. Maybe because I still have hope that maybe it's too early etc.,? AF is so definite and you can just break out the wine.

BFN! I hate those stark white state me downs! Also, I hate the whole anticipation that maybe I tested too early (which I always do anyways).

Gahd they are both pretty awful but there is nothing worse than getting a BFN and then having to wait for AF to arrive. Once this happened to me and I was 2 weeks late, worst two weeks ever as I was in limbo wishing for AF to show, not ovulating, not getting ready for TWW just stuck!

Waiting for AF was worse for me. I just want to know if I'm pregnant or not so I can come to terms with it and move on.

@septca: I'm with you! it's nice in theory to wait for AF and then it's CD1 already . . . but it's the waiting that is worse for me. I get my BFN letdown around 12dpo and then just wait for AF and am very happy to see her when she arrives!

BFN is worse. That's why I always wait until the weekend AFTER AF is due to test! Usually AF just showed up and I didn't even get a chance to test, haha.

BFN is way worse for me. I was left wondering "maybe it's too early" and still waiting for AF.
I looked at AF as the beginning of a new cycle and getting to try again in another 2 weeks.

BFN is worse. Because not only does it say "not this time!", but you could have tested too early, and..worst of all - you had to pay for it to tell you that.

A late AF and BFN is the absolute worst!

BFN. A BFN still means uncertainty and worry and AF is for sure. I also like that AF is like a new start and you can make a new game plan.

@Radish: same! I still hold out hold with a BFN, even if I know it's pretty unlikely that I'm pregnant. When AF arrives, the waiting and wondering is over, and I can move on to a new cycle.

AF is worse because it means all hope for the cycle is definitely over. BFNs are easier, since I only use cheap wondfos and I can still hold out a glimmer of hope until the end, which is way, way better than the uncertainty of not testing early.
Also, I feel like by testing early I'm doing my part to gather data for the whole "what DPO did you get your BFP" question. If everyone waited til AF showed, where would we get the anecdotal info to obsess over!

Bfn. There was some hope when you were taking the test. Then that hope was snatched away from you when you read the bfn.

BFN. nothing like seeing it with the hopes of those few minutes of waiting being crushed...
was way worse. Next time I am going to wait at 4-5 days after AF expected arrival.
