I really hate how busy they make shoes. I don't need 5 different colors, or hearts/flowers on them.

I hate the strict gendering BS. Some day I want to have a kids clothes shops without boys and girls sections with nice basics and science, cat, robot, car, horse shirts for everyone.

@scg00387: Yes! I've had luck with gender neutral clothing in many of the independent IG shops. I hate the gender stereotyping. I bought some cute leggings for B and one of my friends was aghast, "But he's a BOY! You know that, right?" Umm...yes, I'm aware my child has a penis. For that reason he's not allowed to be comfortable?!
Side note: You should totally start your own IG shop!

I wish they weren't so focused on girls' clothes. I wish someone would make some unique boy stuff.

YES. Im trying to buy C some tennis shoes right now and everything is so bright and busy. I hate it. I want some simple, comfortable shoes that go with everything. Impossible.
I also hate tons of characters on everything. I dig a cute little animal or something here and there, but I don't need Hello Kitty or Minnie Mouse done in neon pink and sparkles.
@scg00387: I would totally buy science/robot stuff for my girl... if they didn't all have obviously boy sayings like "boy genius" on them. Apparently, girls cant like science.

@Smurfette: yes! I just bought LO some new shoes for fall and all the shoes were sooo busy! I guess so kids will like them? I just want some simple shoes. I ended up getting her plain silver stride rites, navy new balance and grey boots

@sandy: I am hoping to avoid shoes that light up at any and all cost.
Eat: those are cute!

Super crazy gendered everything is annoying. I can't find any pajamas that aren't either pink glittery "princess" or the cute ones with raccoons or whatever always have "Boys will be boys" or some such saying on them. Gah.
And also, overly sexualized clothing for little girls HAS to stop.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@Smurfette: me too! I don't need shoes that light up and glow in the dark and look like they are a toddler's art project

@Smurfette: this is so my biggest peeve...could I buy a cute pair of plain navy shoes for my daughter? Just something simple instead of glitter AND bows AND rainbows AND hearts

Graphics/words on clothes in general. Flowers, butterflies, hearts.

@Smurfette: I hate busy shoes!!! I want something that can go with most outfits!

@Arden: Carter's has some cute "woodland" boy PJs right now that dont have boy sayings. The ninja raccoon ones almost came home with us. They have plain raccoon and fox ones right now too.

@loveisstrange: Bought the ninja raccoons for my little girl...she lit up when we picked up a pair for a friends little guy, so we bought them. She also has green alligator Jammie's and blue ones with a ship on them.

@tinyperson: Haha, Im probably going back for them. I bought her some ninja summer jammies at Gymboree a few months ago and she loved them. I actually shop in the boys section a decent amount.

So far the difference in amount of clothes! I feel like for every boy rack I see 3 girl racks.
@rahlyrah: which IG stores do you like for your LO?

Peek had some cool science-themed girl clothes recently. One shirt featured Marie Curie.

@HLK208: they're from Carters. They have some cute riding boots that I'm eyeing too...maybe will ask for them for her birthday. I have a 30% off coupon code if you want me to forward it to you (it says it's a 2x use code and I only used it once)

@Littlebit: So many! Some of my faves are Knox and Lola, Slyfox, Tribe is Alive, Rags to Ratches, Indie Nook, Kid and Kind, and Totes Adorbs Clothing. I also follow a ton of resale shops.
I definitely like the "hipster" look for little boys though so a lot of the shirts have words. I know that's not everyone's style.

The "sassy" sayings- things about girls being cute or boys being big man on campus-- I don't mind them once in a while but not all the time.
My bigger complaint is that sizing is so inconsistent, even within one brand- Carter's, I'm looking at you!

Why would newborn and 0-3 month clothes have a button enclosure at the neck?? Have any of the designers tried to roll over a squirmy wormy baby to button their neck without chocking them??? I think not!
honeydew / 7811 posts
@scg00387: I would totally shop at your shop! My son loves kitty cats so much but apparently kitties are just for girls!

OMG, the damn shoe thing. I just bought LO her first pair of shoes today and I was at a smaller "mom and pop" shoe place and they only had ONE pair in her size. They're like, navy and pink and flowery and blaaaaaah. They match NOTHING that she has in her closet.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@beachbee: god yes! I firmly believe baby clothes shouldn't have behind the neck buttons or snaps until babies are old enough to hold up their heads at least, so not before 3-6 months minimum. Like trying to button a fish.

I think everything needs a bigger head hole. Blake's head is 7% and I can barely get onesies over it these days. What do people with 95 percentile heads do???
Oh, also this is sort of a twin specific problem, but I wish there were newborn/0-3 sized "Big sister" and "big brother" options. Everything says "little sister/brother" in the small sizes. I want to get a "big sister" shirt for Alice but they all start at 12 months!

@twodoghouse: I hate head holes. We've struggled with them from day one! J thinks I'm trying to kill him.

@Smurfette: the shoes drive me nuts. I just got LO super glittery Pumas because at least they are one color (plus Puma logo). I can't decide if I like them or hate them.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@Smurfette: YES! The shoes. I'm getting Sadie another pair of Converse for fall & winter, because most other toddler sneakers are awful. Then, just planning to get some simple ballet flats from Target or H&M. I like these boots from Old Navy too...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@photojane: R wore a silver SKR sneaker all summer. She moved up to a 5 today. I bought a 6 and 7 today since they were on sale, and I love them so much. They go with everything. I saw those boots! I might get for R.

@twodoghouse: haha yes! The stupid head holes. N was 96th percentile at birth and it was ridiculous trying to fit things over his head. He's a bit more proportionate these days, but his head is still kinda big. DH just told me the other day that he tried to put a romper on him (with collar snaps!) and it wouldn't go over his head.

I hate snaps - I much prefer zippers. And I hate that the Gap feels the need to put buttons at the nape of the neck for little babies! I know it's pretty but really, so not an easy task!!
