I usually just get the store brand. But what's your fave brand of PB?
Crunchy or smoothy? I'm crunchy!

Usually crunchy, but just finished up a jar of creamy. Have to change up my routine sometimes! Lately I have been buying Walmart brand natural PB. I like it. Or I buy Jif natural.

MaraNatha organic crunchy peanut butter with a hint of sea salt! MMMM. I love me some peanut butter.

@IRunForFun: @PurpleUnicorn: @jhd: are the natural organic PB oilier than the others? We bought some Smuckers Natural a while back and when I went to open it there was a TON of oil on top. Like a good 1-2" worth. I didn't know if it was suppose to be like that so I threw it out.

Peter Pan's creamy honey roast. Best peanut better EVER. Been addicted to it since 8th grade

@NaturallyCathy: bahahaha you must be since you even had it on hand!!!

Trader Joe's natural crunchy PB is amazing. I can't eat the "regular" brands anymore - they taste gritty and fake to me.

@regberadaisy: Oh no, you threw out good peanut butter!! The reason natural peanut butter is oily is that it doesn't have partially hydrogenated oil, an emulsifying agent, to bind it all together. It has natural oils, which separate over time. You just have to stir it up really well and store it in the fridge! It's supposed to be like that, promise!

Smooth! I think we usually get Jif from Costco but haven't been in a while, so the last jar I got was a 4 lb jar of store brand. DH likes to eat 2 PB-PB sandwiches in the AM.

@regberadaisy: I'm a SAHM, of course I have it on hand!

@regberadaisy: ya it is! you have to stir it and keep it in the fridge, then its fantastic! i also read on HB that if you keep it turned upside down, you don't have to stir it. i am going to try that with my next jar.

I'm an equal opportunity peanut butter lover. I love all peanut butters. Give me all the peanut butters.
I eat Smuckers natural and @regberadaisy: YOU THREW IT OUT!??!?!?! Oh dear.
@purpleunicorn: I still stir even if it's upside down, otherwise it will get too dry when you get to the bottom of the container! If it does get dry, though you can just pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds.

I can't believe I threw out perfectly good PB. I don't know why I didn't google before chucking it.

@regberadaisy: Yes, natural peanut butters separate. You just stir it back together and use it.
We don't do peanut butter because our friend is allergic. I LOVE sunbutter which is made from sunflower seeds.

I like all natural non stir peanut butter...I don't le the ones where you have to mix in the oil, they seem much thicker/oilier to me. We usually have the peanut butter co. Smooth operator.

@regberadaisy that's why I switched to the Walmart or Jif natural. You don't have to stir them as much as the Smuckers PB but they don't have the hydrogenated oils either. & I'm lazy!

I'm addicted to Whole Foods (365) brand natural peanut butter. i go through massive containers of it...um, way too quickly. LOVE me some natural peanut butter!
I also love almond butter, and literally every kind of nut butter, but they are too $$$$.
persimmon / 1141 posts
I have a serious addiction to PB....any nut butters actually. Love all kinds from the mainstream e.g. skippy natural extra chunk / super crunchy with honey to the more fancy, like MaraNatha no stir crunchy.
TJ's also have a great chunky / crunchy all natural PB. ahh, i could seriously eat a whole jar in one sitting and not even feel sick.
and yes, most natural PBs with no stabilizers tend to separate and the oil will sit on top. you can either stir it back in, or do what i do - pour out the oil for less fat. it's still creamy enough because the natural ones tend to be really liquidy.

DH will only eat Peter Pan peanut butter, so that's what we buy. I prefer chunky!

@IRunForFun: Ok wait, are you suppose to refrigerate it? I bought a HUGE container of organic peanut butter a couple weeks ago (like costco surplus size!) I stirred and put it back in the pantry, am I poisoning everyone now? I read everything on the label and it didn't say refrigerate..
pomelo / 5509 posts
@StbHisMrs: I don't think you're poisoning everyone unless it's gone rancid or grown mold. The reason it is recommended that you refrigerate it is that it's "natural" and doesn't have many preservatives, so the natural oil CAN go rancid over time. I believe they say that if you won't finish it within a month, you should refrigerate it. We always finish ours within like 2 weeks, but refrigerate it anyway. If you aren't refrigerating it, you should store it in an otherwise cool, dry place.

Peanut Butter Co. - I like their smooth and chunky. @Hilsy85: They have non-stir versions? That would be great - the ones I got from Fresh Direct last week need stirring! I hate it, it's so messy, but worth it for peanut butter that's literally just mushed up peanuts.

I've been buying the Skippy All-Natural and it's pretty good! I'm not a PB fanatic but I like it every once in a while. I bought this when we ran out of the Whole Foods 365 brand and I like it.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
@IRunForFun: Ah thank you I'm running home at lunch and sticking it in the fridge! It's like 80oz or something crazy like that, so I most definitely won't finish that within a month!

Only smooth! I love the typical brands - JIF, Skippy, Peter Pan - but they are full of sugar. So I usually buy the Whole Foods natural store brand and force myself to stir up all that icky oil. Hey, it's still peanut butter!
