@brownie: Dang! That sounds great. I have small pieces of sliced bread in my freezer just waiting for something like that.

Buffalo chicken dip! Cheesy, slightly spicy, delicious. I've eaten in with chips, raw veggies, crackers, bagel chips, on a sandwich, topping a salad, you name it. I'm addicted.
It's shredded chicken, a cheese sauce made with hot milk then melt cheese into it (muenster works really well), then thicken as desired with rue. We add blue cheese to ours too- dressing works well. Oh, and of course the hot sauce! Top with more cheese and bake if you like.
Another big hit were little cocktail hotdogs in crescent blankets.
All my other ideas are variations of chip + dip.

bruschetta! cold spinach dip is easy--sour cream/mayo, vegetable soup packet mix, drained frozen chopped spinach, crackers.....
i also like a block of cream cheese with a spicy jam on top and crackers.

@redeyedtreefr0g: @blackbird: Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't just bring those little bread slices I have and do one with the Gorgonzola cheese idea from above, some to dip in buffalo cheese dip, and some for bruschetta. A good variety of tastes but similar concept and easy to whip together! Yum!

@blackbird: I was going to suggest bruschetta too! It's my favorite quick meal or appetizer.
I would also add hummus and feta to go with your spread.

Heat up some marinara in a skillet with chili flakes and a dash of red wine, then add a small round of goat cheese in the middle and let it bubble for a minute or two to get the chill off and soften up. Serve with crusty bread. It's amazing and takes 10 minutes.

Buffalo chicken dips easily my favorite thing to make for a crowd- easy and everyone loves it. @coopsmama: I think the trio sounds like a great idea and fairly simple to execute!

@gingerbebe: oh man this is one of my favorite things ever. There's a restaurant in Chicago that sells this on their app list. SO GOOD
