hmm that's a tough question! currently it's probably mighty to save and Jesus Messiah. love me some oldies though (your beloved, trading my sorrows, shout to the Lord, etc.)!

I love Hillsong as well! Desert Song has a special place in my heart because of the story of one of the singers... don't watch if you don't want to cry...

@Happygal: I'm a hymn lover too.

I used to be in a "hip praise" phase where I thought hymns were irrelevant and praise music was the key to the modern church. Clearly, I wasn't getting much solid teaching. I still enjoy some praise songs, but I really love that hymns teach theology... That was their original purpose!

Oh I seriously have too many to list! (it's all I've listened to the last 5 years)

Favs are:
Leeland - I Wonder, Chains Hit the Ground, & Via Dolorosa
Hillsong - This is our God (serious fav), All I Desire is Jesus (on the Cornerstone video but not officially out yet)... actually the whole Cornerstone album plays on repeat often
Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Rick Pino, Phil Wickham, and so many more (these are the ones that I play almost daily)

My favorite hymn is "There is a fountain filled with blood".... always stills my soul & brings the tears.

And right now this is my very favorite to sing IN service is Always by Kristian Stanfill. Probably b/c I'm still trying to get pp barrings... and I just love the "Oh MY God..." (I also love Jesus paid it all)

@MungBean: "The Heart of Worship" was my very first favorite worship song. It is definitely an oldie but goodie. I love Matt Redman's story behind writing that song too!

I had How He Loves in my head for a week straight. The second verse is so pretty.

Oh my gosh, soooooooo many, both old hymns and modern praise and worship! Our God, Everlasting God, Let Your Kingdom Come, Forever Reign, The Old Rugged Cross, Because He Lives, lol, and that's just a few of my favorites of the ones we sing at church, never mind the ones on the radio. Playing worship music during the day is so, so helpful in keeping my head in a good place (I've struggled with depression in the past) and being able to sing along with something helps keep my ADHD head on task and focused too.

@Happygal: We had a lot in our wedding too. The bridesmaids entered to LO, How a Rose Ere Blooming, the congregational hymns were There is a Fountain and It is Well, and the recessional was Joy to the World.

@Mrs. Superhero: oh man...that song breaks me! the original "sloppy wet kiss" part really weirded me out at first, but now it's just all so raw and real.

We weren't allowed to have any recorded or instrumental music at our wedding, so we had all hymns in 4-part harmony. Is it bad that I can't remember what all we had? I walked down the aisle to Tread Softly. And I think our recessional was the Doxology, but sung in the Mennonite style (even more amazing than the regular Doxology). I love hymns, but there were some instrumental/recorded songs that I'd always counted on having in my wedding, so when it came up that we wouldn't be able to have any of those songs, I was grasping at straws for hymns and singers. My wedding music is still a bit of a sad for me.

So many good ones listed. I also love Hillsong. Right now I really love Chris Tomlins new song Whom Shall I Fear. "I know who goes before me. I know who stands behind. The god of angel armies is always by my side ...." So powerful to me !

Favorite hymn : Great is Thy Faithfulness. I always think of the chorus when I look at my son

Love all these songs you guys have listed! One I love is Tenth Avenue North Over and Underneath. While I love the newer songs I will always love hymns. Whenever I'm nervous or anxious about something (especially lately going through IVF) I sing a hymn either out loud or in my head and it gives me a peace.
