I like cake with a layer of raspberries in the middle and buttercream (or cream cheese) frosting; lots of cake, little on the frosting. I'm not too picky whether the cake portion is chocolate or yellow cake. Red velvet is also nom.
Some friends of ours made this *amazing* banana cake with chocolate between the layers and chocolate frosting for a dinner party a few months ago. OMG best cake ever.
