Our system sucks! We run wash when we get around to it and anything that was in the dryer we pile in wash baskets until I get around to folding it! It sucks and is terrible and over whelming. Anyone have a good system? I'm wondering if I should run a load every morning and fold if when I get home from work? The reason I don't do that now is I'm tired!! And I still have to do dishes etc. I think I could use a maid 
or maybe hire a teenager to fold wash

Well, I stay at home, but I do one load everyday. It keeps me from getting into the "oh crap! There's no clean clothes/towels/etc" trap. I don't do my husbands laundry so my week day loads are: mine, my daughters, my sons, towels, and diapers. I've only been doing it a few weeks but it keeps me from having to do seven loads on the weekend. I loathe putting laundry away so the smaller loads make it feel manageable

I'm probably the weird one who likes to do all the laundry on one day. It's easier for me to remember to move it along and put it away when I'm doing it all at once.

I do one load a day too- that way the loads are smaller and not such a burden to fold and put away everything at once.

I do wash every other day. I start one while I'm making dinner (laundry room off kitchen area), and then transfer while cleaning up dinner. If I have something that can sit in the dryer overnight (like towels), then I will start another load of wash. Then once LO is down for the night, I sit on the couch and watch Netflix and fold.

I do one load during the middle of the week (usually Wednesday). Then, I have a laundry marathon on Friday after work- super exciting I know! I just find that if I don't start it on Friday then I just dread it all weekend and sometimes it doesn't get done.

I load the washer every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings when i wake up for work. DH puts them in the dryer before he leaves for work. He leaves 1.5 hours after me. Sometimes I fold it that evening or DH folds it after DS and I have gone to bed. I've been going to bed the same time as DS lately because I'm so tired being in my first trimester.

We just do it all weekend. My husband does his own and usually does it sometime during the week. I fold and put Away immediately or else it will never get done!

I was doing LO's and my laundry once a week but now I'm moving to do hers every two weeks. Towels/sheets and DH's laundry are his job. He does them week.
We live in an apartment and have shared laundry that costs me $3.5 for one load/washed and dried so I can't afford to do it everyday.

I do laundry either Wednesday or Friday (depending) and then on Sunday. Do a load of towels & bedsheets once a week.
I find if I don't fold it right away it never gets done. Our laundry is in a closet off the dining room so I just fold it on the dining room table so it also gets put away immediately. -

I aim to do towels and sheets every friday. Fridays I bring home from preschool my son's blanket and sheet, so I wash those on Friday night, along with the crib mattress protectors. I don't want to scramble on Sunday night to get his sheet and blanket washed and dried for school on Monday.
I usually need to wash clothes twice a week, so
I aim for Monday and Thursday. Sucks to do catch up laundry on the weekends. And this way everyone has plenty of clean clothes for the week, and then the weekend.Cleaning lady comes every other Wednesday, so after she leaves I wash the cleaning rags (husband's cut up old t shirts) along with the bath mats (just to fill up the machine).

How come so many people do laundry everyday?

I usually do two days a week of 3 or so loads a week- I fold in the evenings or while watching football. Cloth diapers every other day.

I throw loads in throughout the weekend then fold it all in Sunday night...with a glass of wine and a good show on Netflix, it's almost enjoyable even though it takes a while. Note: kiddo must be in bed for this to work.

This is awful, but I don't sort. At all. (Unless we buy something new), so I just toss stuff in the washer until it's full, then start it. It's on our main floor by the kitchen and living room, so I remember to switch. Then I fold when I can or after the boys are down if I haven't gotten to it earlier. I won't wait until the next day, so in always up on it. Right now with a spitty baby and daily swimming lessons, it's every day. Before DS2 and swimming lessons, it was a load every 3-4 days. I wash sheets and towels about once a week.

I do the kids twice a week, once on Thursday cuz that's their last day of daycare for the week and then once over the weekend along with their sheets and towels. Mine and hubs get done every weekend, usually 3 loads - darks, whites, linens. He goes to the dry cleaner every two weeks for work shirts and fancy pants.

I do a load every couple days and then a big 3 - 4 loads over the wknd (kids, colors, whites, towels/sheets). During the wk I do both kids and our whites together since their colors don't bleed. Helps that I wah! Otherwise shit would just pile up! Dry cleaning dh does on his own

I do it all on the weekends. D does his own laundry during the week so that the washer and dryer are free for me.

I Only work two days a week, so it's a little easier for me, but we have a "wash day" and just run loads all day in Sunday. Then, on Monday morning, I bring a whole mountain down and fold/put away.
In the summer we use our line to dry, and since that takes longer we space it out to a load a day/ every other day. -
Our system is that we have no system, haha. My husband washes his own clothes and usually the girls' clothes every weekend. I only fit in like, 3 things right now, so I tend to wash just my own stuff more frequently.
But...I suck at hanging up clothes. I don't mind folding, but we really only fold towels and like...undershirts and work out wear. Everything else hangs. So, DH hangs his stuff promptly. And my stuff is never hung because I hate doing it. And sometimes we manage to work together to hang up the girls' stuff, haha

I do kid laundry on Tuesday and Friday, adult stuff on Wednesday and Saturday then towels, sheets etc, and anything else on the weekend. I fold the laundry once the kids are in bed.

I find folding and putting it away as soon as it's brought in helps! It's the only way to stop it becoming a mountain. I do one load of LO's clothes during the week on a sunny day so it dries outside. I do DH's shirts that day too, and then our other stuff on the weekend so I have time to do multiple loads. I don't know if this helps at all - but laundry isn't a big deal here. I definitely don't need to do it every day at all!

9 out of 10 times DH does the laundry. He tends to do it once on the weekend and once during the week. When he was deployed, I would do it on Fridays after work.

@Pumpkin Pie: How many people are you washing for? We're a family of 4 with a big machine, but no way could I do fewer than 3-4 loads a week. One of DH's gross work clothes, one or two for me and the kids, one of towels, and that's the absolute bare minimum and doesn't include linens or outerwear or spills...

I do a ton at once because we live in a building with 3 washing machines. I usually do 6 loads in one day once a week.

I have your system. As much as I've tried to do a load a day, it never works out because I end up with tiny loads. So I wait, then I wait too long and it looks like my house has exploded laundry.

Laundry is my "thing" so I do a lot of loads over the course of the week, with the majority on the weekend.
I have a machine that I can set on a time delay, so I can put in a load of laundry on say, Friday night, and have it begin at 5:30 in the morning so that when we wake up, I can either hang it to dry or put it in the dryer. I will sometimes do a load midweek this way, by time delaying the wash cycle to begin at 3 pm so it is finished by the time we come home.
I also have a laundry sorting hamper, I find it helps to keep us organized and this way I trust my husband to run a load as he won't mix things up. This has our whites, lights and darks in it. We have a separate basket for dry clean items and hand wash (mostly things of mine).
As for linens, I do only white towels and I am able to do them in our white load. Sheets get washed together in one load on the weekend.

Well, my husband and I split it, which helps significantly. We probably each do a load of our own clothes....and then a load or two of the kids', plus a load of towels and diapers. I bring stuff upstairs and dump it out on the floor with my kids next to me. E tries to "help" so i let her help me sort and then i fold and hang in the room I'm in. We usually end up doing most of it on the weekends and overnight during the week (and my husband watches football in the basement on Sundays, so he's always flipping loads over!) and then there are a couple of weekday loads that get done--I have two sitting at the top of the stairs right now. Oh and I folded a load this morning before work. If there's a LOT to fold, I dump it out on the coffee table and DH and I sort and fold while watching TV.

I do my laundry on Sunday since that's usually our least busy day. Plus, DH is home to help keep DS occupied so he's not unfolding all the folder clothes.
I wash mine and DS's clothes together, while DH does his own. That seems to help a lot bc I don't feel like I'm doing a ton of laundry! We wear very little whites so I don't have to separate my laundry so that helps also!

I usually just do it... But lately we've been having difficulty getting the stuff out of the dryer and putting clothes away! The main issue is DD naps and sleeps on our bed, so if she's sleeping, we can never put the clothes away so they end up sitting in the dryer or folder but in our basket for days!

I like to do 2-3 loads a couple times a week. I change all the sheets and get towels etc together over the weekend and wash them all Monday morning. I fold during nap and bedtime and put away either in the morning or during bathtime. I hate doing laundry on weekends so I always have a lot on Mondays and then whatever is left over and newly dirty stuff is washed Thursday or Friday.

@reyorra: @Mrs. Bee: same. There are times when I need to do some laundry during the week, but I prefer to do it all at once on the weekend, so I can actually feel like I'm "done" with it at some point.

I do a load of laundry on most days. I WAH and my kids are in school, so I try to do laundry in between conference calls, which makes it easier on nights/weekends.
Fridays - during the day I wash my kids clothes. Friday night - I wash nap mats so they are ready for school on Monday.
Weekends - DH does his laundry
Tuesdays - our cleaning ladies come and I wash towels and sheets so they can fold/put away.
I do my laundry on Mondays or Thursdays and sometimes I do an extra load of kids clothes mid week if there are thing that are particularly stained.
Our washer also has a delay start. I usually put my clothes in at night, set the timer, wake up, put the clothes in the dryer.
