do you do anything to avoid disturbing him/her?
We have the crib in our room and it will be there for a while due to our house layout. LO is 6 months and when we go to bed we have to keep it dark, be super quiet, etc. We do have white noise but I'd love to know if anyone has a solution for blocking low levels of light from the crib. A curtain in the room? A canopy?

We roomshare with the crib beside me for 6 months. We walk around in the dark and use or cellphones for light. The screen is a good idea if you have space I guess. We just try to be super quiet and I cover the lamps with towels to dim them while I have them on for feeding at bedtime, otherwise we don’t hang out in our room...which is why we only do it for 6 months. We also use white noise and whisper...lol

LO is transitioning out of our room. We whispered,held our sneezes lol and avoided talking when he’s with us. I’m excited but will miss him. We had a night light positioned behind our crib so it didn’t bother him. Blackout curtains and white noise machine too. We don’t really hang out in our room. His crib was moved yesterday to his new room 
. Trying to sleep train and get him use to it. It’s tough. You can try a divider or if possible move the crib somewhere else in the room?

@Mrs. Goose: @cake2017: it kind of sucks doesn't it? I'd love to move him out of our room but he will be sharing with the 2yo and he just doesn't sleep well enough at night for it to be feasible right now.
There's probably no perfect solution but I was just hoping someone would have some insight. I'll look into a screen!

Yep! It’s nice because they’re close for feeding or soothing, but not so nice for so many other reasons and you have to be careful to sneeze or cough!

We’re in a 1br apt so will be sharing our room with our new baby for at least a while. We just bought a room dividing curtain that supposedly blocks sound too: https://www.moondreamwebstore.com/room-divider/grey-room-divider-curtain-cotton-effect-metal-mc732-337.html. Do you have space for something like that?

We had Lo1 in our room until 6 months, and my 2 mo old Lo2 is currently in our room. We use a loud white noise machine, don't turn on any lights, and avoid making noise. My husband and I both have colds right now and I literally go into our walk in closet and close the door to cough. My husband is in the guest room because the cold makes him snore louder + he sucks at managing his coughing. I even had my dad wf-40 the hinges on our bathroom door because it was squeaky lol.
I feel like your kid is either going to sleep through everything or they won't. Sharing kinda sucks but it is what it is!

@JJ2626: oh this is interesting. If you remember, can you circle back to this thread after you've used this a while and let us know how it worked out? We just turned a corner of our master closet into our "closery" as we have Lo2 arriving in like 3 weeks! I'll have to leave the door partly open for airflow but this curtain seems like a good option

I guess we are weird, but no - we don't do anything to avoid disturbing her. We didn't with my son either and now he can sleep through anything. We aren't excessive, but we watch TV, talk, etc.

We don't, other than not watching tv at night. She has a nightlight behind her p&p, and I use a small lamp if needed which never bothers her.

Bedshared with our first till she was 2, and currently bed sharing with our 2nd. We only have light filtering shades and white noise. No TV in there, and obv we whisper, but we pretty much all sleep through DH's snoring 
And if we can do that, nothing else matters haha!

We bedshared with #2 thanks to a small apartment. DD just was too light a sleeper to make sharing a room with 2yo DS possible.
We were as quiet as possible, and kept the room totally dark. If she was even slightly awake and one of us had our phones on, she woke right up. So we are sooooo looking forward to kicking her out of our room haha!

@Littlebit7: Sure! Baby isn’t due until Feb so will be a little while but I’ll update once we’ve tried it out! We also considered sliding doors but didn’t seem worth the price since we might move within the year.

@codeitall: oh dear! DS isn't bothered by the light from our phones but he definitely stirs when DH coughs or opens a drawer. We would love to be able to read in bed again too.
